List Of Nuclear Triads
The following list of nuclear triads, deployed in 2024, includes all four countries known to possess them (United States, Russia, China and India). Where available, the names and number of nuclear warheads are given. The list excludes non-strategic (tactical) nuclear weapons and the partial nuclear triad of France and Pakistan. The United States and Russia, previously Soviet Union, have been wielding their nuclear triads since the 1960s. India completed its nuclear triad in 2018 and China in 2020. A nuclear triad is a three-pronged military force structure of land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs), and strategic bombers with Nuclear weapon, nuclear bombs and missiles. Countries build nuclear triads to eliminate an enemy's ability to destroy a nation's nuclear forces in a Pre-emptive nuclear strike, first-strike attack, which preserves their own ability to launch a second strike and therefore increases their nuclear deterrence. Four countries are known to have complete nuclear triad: United States, the United States, Russia, India, and China. Israel is suspected to possess a nuclear triad, but its status is not confirmed. Avangard (hypersonic Glide Vehicle)
The Avangard (, "Vanguard"; previously known as Objekt 4202, Yu-71 and Yu-74) is a Russian hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV). R-36 (missile)
The R-36 () is a family of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and space launch vehicles (Tsyklon) designed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The original R-36 was deployed under the GRAU index 8K67 and was given the NATO reporting name SS-9 Scarp. It was able to carry three warheads and was the first Soviet MIRV (multiple re-entry vehicle, multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle) missile. The RS-24 Yars (РС-24 Ярс – ракета стратегическая (strategic missile)-modification 24) also known as Topol-MR, NATO reporting name SS-29 or SS-27 Mod 2), is a Russian MIRV-equipped, thermonuclear armed intercontinental ballistic missile first tested on May 29, 2007, after a secret military R&D project.
