Glyptophysa Petiti
''Glyptophysa petiti'' is a species of small sinistral (left-handed) air-breathing freshwater snail, aquatic pulmonate gastropod mollusk Mollusca is the second-largest phylum of invertebrate animals after the Arthropoda, the members of which are known as molluscs or mollusks (). Around 85,000 extant species of molluscs are recognized. The number of fossil species is e ...s in the family Planorbidae. This species as presently delimited is Endemism, endemic to List of non-marine molluscs of New Caledonia, New Caledonia. However, it may include taxa found elsewhere, such as ''Glyptophysa aliciae, G. aliciae'' of Australia. The New Caledonian population had been previously classified as endangered species, endangered because it is only known from the type locality (biology), type locality, Lac de la Grande Vallée des Kaoris in southern New Caledonia. However, owing to the Taxonomy (biology), taxonomic uncertainty, the species is now classified as data deficient by ... Philippe Dautzenberg
Philippe Dautzenberg (20 December 1849, in Ixelles, Brussels – 9 May 1935, in Paris) was a Belgian malacologist, a biologist who specializes in the branch of invertebrate zoology that deals with mollusks. He was an amateur and autodidact, who was actually the owner of a carpet and soft furnishings factory. He was also a devoted family man with 12 children. He assembled, thanks to his many connections all over the world, a large part of the shell collection of the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, which consists of 9,000,000 specimens and is one of the three largest shell collections in the world. He was a participant in the scientific surveys of Prince Albert I of Monaco and the author of 210 published works (between 1881 and 1937 (post mortem) ) in the field of malacology. He described 1895 new taxa. He collected shells from an early age, resulting in his personal collection of about 4.5 million specimens, relating to 33,000 Recent taxa and 7,000 fossil species. ... This is a very incomplete list of the non-marine molluscs of the country of Australia. They are part of the invertebrate fauna of Australia. Freshwater gastropods The freshwater molluscs of Australia vary greatly in size, shape, biology and evolutionary history, and more than 99% of the native species occur nowhere else on earth. Currently, there are more than 400 native described species and a further 100 species that are undescribed. A Lucid multi-access key for them, together with descriptions is found at Australian Freshwater Molluscs, Revision 1A'. Bothriembryontidae
Bothriembryontidae is a family of air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the superfamily Orthalicoidea. Taxonomy This family has been named Placostylidae and had no subfamilies (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). Breure et al. (2010) moved '' Prestonella'' and ''Bothriembryon'' to Placostylidae. Breure & Romero (2012) confirmed previous results from 2010 and they renamed Placostylidae to Bothriembryontidae. * subfamily Bothriembryontinae Iredale, 1937 * subfamily Placostylinae Pilsbry, 1946 - for species from New Zealand and Melanesia Prestonellinae was formally described as a new subfamily within Bothriembryontidae in 2016.
