List Of Non-marine Molluscs Of Austria
The non-marine molluscs of Austria are a part of the fauna of Austria. Austria is land-locked and therefore it has no marine molluscs, only land and freshwater species. This list is based on the current IUCN Red List, Red List of Austrian molluscs.Reischütz, A. & P. L. Reischütz (2007): Rote Liste der Weichtiere (Mollusca) Österreichs. In: Zulka, P. (Ed.): Rote Listen gefährdeter Tiere Österreichs. Checklisten, Gefährdungsanalysen, Handlungsbedarf. Teil 2. Grüne Reihe des BLFUW, Wien, Böhlauverlag, pp 363 – 433 There are 443 species of non-marine Mollusca, molluscs living in Austria. Of these, 426 species live in the wild, 60 of which are Endemism, endemic to Austria. At least 17 gastropod species live only as hothouse aliens in greenhouses, aquaria and terraria. Another 4 non-indigenous species occur only in hot springs. Freshwater gastropods Neritidae * ''Theodoxus danubialis'': ''Theodoxus danubialis danubialis'' (C. Pfeiffer, 1828); ''Theodoxus danubialis stra ...

Theodoxus Transversalis
The striped nerite, scientific name ''Theodoxus transversalis'', is a species of small freshwater snail with an operculum, an aquatic gastropod mollusk in the family Neritidae, the nerites. Distribution The distribution of this species is Danubian. Fehér et al. (2012)Fehér Z., Albrecht C., Major Á., Sereda S. & Kríszik V. (2012). "Extremely low genetic diversity in the endangered striped nerite, ''Theodoxus transversalis'' (Mollusca, Gastropoda, Neritidae) – a result of ancestral or recent effects?". '' North-Western Journal of Zoology'' 8(2): 300-307PDF revealed in their conservation genetics study, that intraspecific variability of two researched DNA markers (cytochrome c oxidase subunit I and ATP synthase subunit α) is very low. They hypothesized that the bottlenecked population colonized the whole range of ''Theodoxus transversalis'' in the Holocene. Fehér et al. (2012) also hypothesized that such low genetic diversity caused the high sensitivity of ''Theodoxu ...

Hydrobiidae
Hydrobiidae, commonly known as mud snails, is a large cosmopolitan family of very small freshwater and brackish water snails with an operculum, in the order Littorinimorpha.MolluscaBase eds. (2024). MolluscaBase. Hydrobiidae W. Stimpson, 1865. Accessed through: World Register of Marine Species at: https://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=120 on 2024-06-18 Distribution Hydrobiidae are found in much of the world, inhabiting all continents except Antarctica. In Australia alone there are over 260 species in the family. Description These are very small or minute snails, with a shell height of less than 8 mm. The dextrally-coiled shells are smooth (except for growth lines conforming to the shape of the outer lip) and are usually rather nondescript. The shell offers very few robust characteristics to the systematist who is attempting to classify the species within this family. This difficulty is compounded by a high degree of intraspecific variation. Descript ...

Melanopsidae
Melanopsidae, common name melanopsids, is a family of freshwater gastropods in the clade Sorbeoconcha. Species in this family are native to southern and eastern Europe, northern Africa, parts of the Middle East, New Zealand, and freshwater streams of some large South Pacific islands. These snails first appeared in the Late Cretaceous and are closely related to Potamididae. As well as unidirectional evolutionary change from one species to the next over time, the process of hybridization plays a major role in the appearance of new Melanopsidae species.Bandel K. (2000). "Speciation among the Melanopsidae (Caenogastropoda). Special emphasis to the Melanopsidae of the Pannonian Lake at Pontian time (Late Miocene) and the Pleistocene and Recent of Jordan". ''Mitt. Geol.-Paläont. Inst. Univ. Hamburg'', Heft 84. According to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi (2005) the family Melanopsidae has no subfamilies. Genera Genera in the family Melanopsidae include: * '' ...
