This is a list of areas and neighborhoods in Bengaluru by region. In recent decades, the city has witnessed rapid growth in population and urbanized area. While Central Bangalore is the commercial heart of the city, Eastern and South-Eastern Bangalore areas are major hubs for IT and financial companies. Southern and Western parts of the city are mainly residential areas. The neighborhoods in the Northern and North-Eastern regions are both industrial and residential. Bengaluru, also known as Bangalore (List of renamed places in India#Karnataka, its official name until 1 November 2014), is the Capital city, capital and largest city of the southern States and union territories of India, Indian state of Karnataka. World Trade Center Bangalore
The World Trade Center Bengaluru (WTCB) is a building complex located in Malleswaram West, Bengaluru, India, which was opened for operation in 2010. Built by Brigade Group who obtained the WTCA license for its construction, the building became the second World Trade Center in India after the one in Mumbai. At 128 m, the WTCB was the tallest commercial building in south India from 2010 till 2015 and the tallest building in Bangalore between 2010 and 2013. The building is part of an integrated enclave called "Brigade Gateway", along with Orion Mall, Manipal Hospital, Sheraton Hotel, Brigade School and Brigade Gateway Apartments. The WTCB is close to ISKCON Temple, Indian Institute of Science, Yesvantpur Junction railway station and Sandal Soap Factory metro station. Ulsoor Lake (5392330091)
Ulsoor Lake or Halasuru Lake, one of the biggest lakes in Bangalore, is located on the eastern side of the city. It derives its name from the name of the locality it is situated, namely, Halasuru, close to M G Road. It is spread over and has several islands. Even though the lake is dated to Kempe Gowdas's time, the present lake was created by Lewin Bentham Bowring, the then Commissioner of Bangalore. A part of the lake is controlled by the Madras Engineer Group, and the rest by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) The lake was subject to several types of pollution threats. Ulsoor
Halasuru, known as Ulsoor during the British Raj, British Rule, is one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city of Bengaluru. It is in central Bengaluru, and begins near the eastern terminus of M G Road, Bangalore, Mahatma Gandhi Raste. It is renowned for its numerous temples and market. History and name The village of Bangalore is said to have been gifted to Kempe Gowda I (1513–1569) by the Vijayanagar Empire, Vijayanagara emperors. Bengaluru Cantonment railway station, also known as Bengaluru Cant (station code: BNC) is one of the four important railway stations serving the city of Bengaluru and it is located in the locality of Vasanth Nagar and adjoins Fraser Town, Benson Town and Shivajinagar. The Station started operations in 1864, with the launch of the Bengaluru Cantonment – Jolarpettai train services by the Madras Railway. Russell Market
Russell Market is a shopping market in Bangalore, built in 1927 by the British and inaugurated in 1933 by Ismail Sait. It is named of the then Municipal commissioner T. B. Russell. Fire On 26 February 2012, a fire started in the market, in the early hours of Saturday, gutting 123 shops and causing loss of Rs89.2 lakh to the shop owners. Sadashivanagara is an affluent residential neighbourhood in the northwestern part of Bangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is bounded by Malleshwaram to the west, Vyalikaval and Palace Guttahalli to the south, Palace grounds to the east and Hebbal to the north.
