A multiple-barrel firearm is any type of firearm with more than one gun barrel, usually to increase the rate of fire or hit probability and to reduce barrel erosion or overheating. History Volley gun Multiple-barrel firearms date back to the 14th century, when the first primitive volley guns were developed. They are made with several single-shot barrels assembled together for firing a large number of shots, either simultaneously or in quick succession. These firearms were limited in firepower by the number of barrels bundled, and needed to be manually prepared, ignited, and reloaded after each firing. In practice the large volley guns were not particularly more useful than a cannon firing canister shot or grapeshot. DoubleTap Derringer
The DoubleTap derringer is a hammerless, double-action, double-barreled, large caliber derringer designed for personal protection and sold by DoubleTap Defense, LLC. It features stainless steel ported barrels and an aluminum frame that holds two extra rounds in the grip. The name comes from the double tap shooting technique in which two rounds are quickly fired before engaging the next target. Heizer Defense, the original manufacturer, has stated that the gun was inspired by the FP-45 Liberator pistol, which was designed for use in France by the resistance against the Germans during World War II. 577 Snider
The .577 Snider (14.7×51mm) cartridge was a British black powder metallic centrefire cartridge, which fired a , lead projectile, primarily used in the Snider–Enfield rifle. Early .577 Snider cartridges were made from a composite design using paper and brass foil with a stamped metallic base and primer, much like the first generation of Martini-Henry cartridges. Later cartridges (after the design had been proved with the Martini-Henry cartridges) were made from drawn brass, much like modern small arms ammunition. The .577 Snider cartridge was eventually replaced in service by the .577/450 Martini–Henry cartridge in the 1870s. The .577 Snider cartridge is considered by most commentators to be obsolete, with large scale commercial production having ceased in the 1930s. The howdah pistol was a large-calibre handgun, often with two or four barrels, used in Africa and India from the beginning of the nineteenth century and into the early twentieth century during the British Empire era. Garrucha is a municipality of Almería province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. Garrucha is a seaport of south-eastern Spain on the Mediterranean Sea and the right bank of the river Antas. In 1998 the town had a population of 5000. The harbor of Garrucha, which is defended by an eighteenth-century castle, affords shelter to large ships, and is the natural outlet for the commerce of a once thriving agricultural and mining district. Garrucha (pistol)
The garrucha is a small rifled or smoothbore pistol, similar to a derringer, which was common in Brazil and Argentina in the early 20th century. Even though single-shot variants exist, it is usually double-barreled with the barrels in a side-by-side layout, rather than the more common over-and-under layout of many derringer designs. In Brazil, the most popular chamberings were for the .320 and .380 centerfire cartridges, similar to the .32 S&W and .38 S&W in appearance, but conical. They were also chambered for the .22 Short, .22 Long, .22 Long Rifle, and the .32, 8mm, and 9mm Flobert cartridges, among others. These types of pistols were popular from about 1930 to 1960 due to their low cost and small size and were associated with the gauchos (cowboys) of the South American Pampas.
