Dharan
Dharan ( ne, धरान) a sub-metropolitan city in Sunsari District of Province No. 1, Nepal, which was established as a fourth municipality in the Kingdom in 1958. It is the third most populous city in Eastern Nepal after Biratnagar and Itahari. Dharan is the location of the former Vijayapur, the seat of a historical Limbuwan kingdom, which was later used by the Sen kings of Makwanpur. Dharan has an estimated city population of 173,096 living in 34,834 households as per 2021 Nepal census. Bishnupaduka (Shrine)
Bishnupaduka (also Vishnupaduka) is one of the holy places for Hindus. It is situated in the northwest part of Dharan, where the holy river Kokaha originated. Local people found a rock with two clear footprints and it is believed that the footprints are of Lord Vishnu. So the people built a small temple and called it Bishnupaduka temple. This religious place is mentioned on the one hundred and tenth chapter of the Holy book Brahma Purana. It clearly states that Lord Vishnu and Laxmi observed Sharaddha (holy rituals remembering the departed ancestors) of Arsha and other Divine Ancestors. Every year many Hindus from the surrounding area gather here, specially during the month of Paush for the Shraddha of their ancestors. The main pilgrimage sites to perform shraddha are Gokarna of Kathmandu, Betrawati of Rasuwa, and Bishnupaduka of Dharan. Barahakshetra Municipality ( ne, बराहक्षेत्र नगरपालिका) is a newly formed municipality located in Sunsari District of Province No. 1 in Nepal. The area of the municipality is 222 km2 and according to 2011 Census of Nepal the population of the municipality is 77,604 Barahakshetra is a famous pilgrimage site that remains inside Barahakshetra Municipality. Budha Subba Temple
Introduction of Budhasubba Temple Budha Subba Temple is a well known religious temple of the eastern Nepal people. It is situated in Bijayapur of Dharan, Nepal. It is believed to fulfill the wishes and bring good luck to the people visiting there. According to historian Iman Singh Chemjong, Bijayapur was the capital of the then Kirant Kingdom of king Bijayanarayan. According to others, Bijayapur was named after Sen King Bijaya. This temple is considered to be one of the most unique temples in the world. Where there is a temple, there is no idol. Along with this, the temple is offered pigs as well as wine.
