The TEDBF is being designed and developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), and will be manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The TEDBF is intended to perform a multitude of missions, including air supremacy, air interdiction, anti-access/area denial (A2/AD), anti-ship warfare (ASW) and electronic warfare (EW) missions. The TEDBF is expected to replace the Mikoyan MiG-29K onboard the and the . The programme was officially announced in 2020, in response to the Indian Navy's dissatisfaction in operating a single-engine carrier-based fighter based on the HAL Tejas, and its eventual withdrawal from the naval LCA programme in 2016. A model of the aircraft was displayed at Aero India 2021. The first flight is expected to be in 2026, with production planned for 2031. The design's t ... Low Earth Orbit
A low Earth orbit (LEO) is an orbit around Earth with a period of 128 minutes or less (making at least 11.25 orbits per day) and an eccentricity less than 0.25. Most of the artificial objects in outer space are in LEO, with an altitude never more than about one-third of the radius of Earth. The term ''LEO region'' is also used for the area of space below an altitude of (about one-third of Earth's radius). Objects in orbits that pass through this zone, even if they have an apogee further out or are sub-orbital, are carefully tracked since they present a collision risk to the many LEO satellites. All crewed space stations to date have been within LEO. From 1968 to 1972, the Apollo program's lunar missions sent humans beyond LEO. Since the end of the Apollo program, no human spaceflights have been beyond LEO. Defining characteristics A wide variety of sources define LEO in terms of altitude. The altitude of an object in an elliptic orbit can vary significantly along the ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Kulasekharapatnam Spaceport
Kulasekharapatnam Spaceport is an under-development spaceport in India. It is being built as ISRO's second spaceport. The spaceport is being constructed over 2,350 acres. As of July 2022, the acquisition of around 1950 acres (nearly 83%) of land has been completed. Location The spaceport is located at Kulasekharapatnam in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Background ISRO's Sriharikota Spaceport is ideal for launching heavy rockets, but poses a major threat during the launch of smaller rockets. Sriharikota presents a threat when rockets are launched in polar orbit (circling the Earth above the poles). The island nation of Sri Lanka is in the path of a rocket traveling to the South Pole from the Sriharikota spaceport. Given the huge risk of flying over a country, India's rockets are programmed to perform a maneuver to avoid Sri Lanka's landmass. So, instead of flying in a straight line, the rocket follows a curved path. To perform this maneuver, the rocket has to burn a ... Turboshaft
A turboshaft engine is a form of gas turbine that is optimized to produce shaftpower rather than jet thrust. In concept, turboshaft engines are very similar to turbojets, with additional turbine expansion to extract heat energy from the exhaust and convert it into output shaft power. They are even more similar to turboprops, with only minor differences, and a single engine is often sold in both forms. Turboshaft engines are commonly used in applications that require a sustained high power output, high reliability, small size, and light weight. These include helicopters, auxiliary power units, boats and ships, tanks, hovercraft, and stationary equipment. Overview A turboshaft engine may be made up of two major parts assemblies: the 'gas generator' and the 'power section'. The gas generator consists of the compressor, combustion chambers with ignitors and fuel nozzles, and one or more stages of turbine. The power section consists of additional stages of turbines, a gear reduction ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

HAL HTSE-1200
The HAL HTSE-1200 ("Hindustan Turbo Shaft Engine") is a turboshaft engine under development by India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is aimed at 3.5 ton single engine class and 5-8 ton twin engine class helicopter configurations. India will need 5,000-6,000 helicopters to operate in 2020s. This will be an indigenous design giving engine alternatives for the HAL-developed LUH, ALH and LCH. The first run of engine was conducted in February 2018 when it achieved 76% of the rpm required. There have been 250 tests of engine since inaugural run. The engine has been "progressing well" to have its first flight test by end of 2019. Directionally Solidified Gas Generator (GG) Turbine blades were also developed for the engine indigenously. In the Annual Report 2020-21 of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, it is revealed that HTSE 1200 achieved 100% speed run on core engine. Sea level trials of core engine completed successfully.
