This is a list of the most notable mass shootings in the United States that have occurred since 1900. Mass shootings are incidents involving several victims of firearm-related violence. The precise inclusion criteria are disputed, and there is no broadly accepted definition. Only shootings that have Wikipedia articles of their own are included in this list. Detailed lists of mass shootings can be found per year at their respective pages. The Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit research group that tracks shootings and their characteristics in the United States, defines a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people, excluding the perpetrator(s), are shot in one location at roughly the same time, with the FBI having a minimum of three. The French Quarter, also known as the (; ; ), is the oldest neighborhood in the city of New Orleans. 2025 New Orleans Truck Attack
On January 1, 2025, at around 3:15 a.m. Central Time Zone, CST (UTC−06:00, UTC–6), Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old American man, Vehicle-ramming attack, drove a pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States, then exited the truck and engaged in a shootout with police before being fatally shot. Fourteen victims were killed, plus the perpetrator, and at least fifty-seven others were injured, including two police officers who were shot. The attack occurred during New Year's Day, New Year celebrations in the city, which was scheduled to host the 2025 Sugar Bowl later that day. UPMC Memorial Hospital Shooting
On February 22, 2025, a mass shooting and hostage situation took place at UPMC Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, Pennsylvania, near the city of York. The shooting began at around 10:35 a.m. when Diogenes Archangel-Ortiz took hostages at the intensive care unit (ICU) area of the hospital and opened fire on several people. Two people, including the shooter, were killed and seven others were injured. Background UPMC Memorial Hospital is a 104-bed hospital operated by University of Pittsburgh Medical Center that opened in August 2019.
