A lighthouse is a tower, building, or other type of physical structure designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lens (optics), lenses and to serve as a beacon for navigational aid, for maritime pilots at sea or on inland waterways. The Arenas Blancas Lighthouse ( es, Faro de Arenas Blancas) is an active lighthouse on the Canary island of La Palma in the municipality of Villa de Mazo, near the village of La Salemera. The larger settlement of Mazo lies to the north-west. It is one of four main lighthouses on La Palma, each one marking a different quadrant of the island.
