Bahrain, officially the Kingdom of Bahrain, is an island country in West Asia. Situated on the Persian Gulf, it comprises a small archipelago of 50 natural islands and an additional 33 artificial islands, centered on Bahrain Island, which makes up around 83 percent of the country's landmass. Bahrain Specialist Hospital
The Bahrain Specialist Hospital (BSH; ) is a comprehensive acute care hospital situated in Juffair, in the Kingdom of Bahrain. BSH is supported by shareholders from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates. It is directed by the managing director Dr. Kasim Ardati, and was inaugurated in February 2003 under the patronage of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Dr. Najah Al Zayyani is credited with founding the hospital. This is a list of burn centres in Bahrain. A burn centre or burn care facility is typically a hospital ward which specializes in the treatment of severe burn injuries. In 1980, the need for a dedicated burns unit in Bahrain was highlighted in the local medical literature after significant incidents of burns, commonly scalding injuries in children, were identified. Life expectancy in Bahrain at birth in 2013 was 76 for men and 78 for women. Compared to many countries in the region, the prevalence of AIDS and HIV is relatively low. Malaria and tuberculosis (TB) do not constitute major problems in Bahrain as neither disease is indigenous to the country. Juffair () is a district situated in south to central Manama, Bahrain. It was originally a separate village inhabited by Shia Muslims but it has been absorbed by the suburban expansion of Manama in the 20th century, and presently includes large parts of land reclaimed from the sea. The Bahrain Defence Force (, abbreviated BDF) is the military force of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Bahrain Defence Force is under the direct command and leadership of a commander-in-chief who holds the rank of field marshal. The American Mission Hospital is a 120 year old private not-for-profit hospital located in Manama, Bahrain. Established in 1903, as the Mason Memorial Hospital, it was the first modern hospital in the country and, possibly, along the entire Persian Gulf region.
