The PWHL Draft () is an annual meeting in which every franchise of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) systematically select the rights to available ice hockey players who meet draft eligibility requirements. The PWHL Draft is held once every year, generally within a month after the conclusion of the previous regular season. During the draft, teams take turns selecting amateur players from collegiate leagues and professional players from European leagues. The first draft was held in 2023, and has been held every year since. The Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL; , LPHF) is a women's professional ice hockey league in North America. The league comprises eight teams, four each from the United States and Canada. Sarah Anne Fillier (born June 9, 2000) is a Canadian ice hockey player for the New York Sirens of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She was selected first overall by New York in the 2024 PWHL draft, before which she played college ice hockey at Princeton University. Playing career Junior Before her junior career, Fillier played boys' youth hockey in Halton, Ontario. With the Oakville Jr. Hornets of the Provincial Women's Hockey League (Prov. WHL) in the 2015–16 season, Fillier recorded 11 points in 22 games as the Hornets claimed silver at the Ontario provincial level. Minnesota Golden Gophers Women's Ice Hockey
The Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey team plays for the University of Minnesota at the Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis. The team is one of the members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Division I. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. In 1997 the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) established the IIHF Hall of Fame in Zürich, Switzerland. The IIHF Hall of Fame is intended to honor individuals who have made valuable contributions both internationally and in their home countries. The first class, which was composed of Paul Loicq, plus 30 other individuals, was introduced during the 1997 World Championships in Helsinki, Finland. The Hockey Hall of Fame is a hall of fame and museum dedicated to the history of ice hockey, history of ice hockey. It was established in 1943 and is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Kristýna Kaltounková (born 14 April 2002) is a Czech ice hockey player for Colgate and a member of the Czech Republic women's national ice hockey team.
