Sweetwater 420 Fest
The SweetWater 420 Fest is an annual event presented by SweetWater Brewing Company in Atlanta, Georgia held on a weekend closest to Earth Day. In 2014, the festival announced it would be celebrating its 10th anniversary at its new home in Centennial Olympic Park. Origin The first festival began in Oakhurst, Georgia, with 3,000 attendees, as a way for the brewery to bring together all of the elements it was passionate about in one place – music, beer and the environment. Patrons drank SweetWater beer while watching headlining musical act Tea Leaf Green. Two years later, the festival would call Little Five Points' Candler Park home, where it remained until 2013. As of its 10th Anniversary in 2014, SweetWater 420 Festival now welcomes fans to their new home at Centennial Olympic Park in the heart of Atlanta. Athfest
AthFest is a free annual music and arts festival in Athens, Georgia, first held in 1997. The festival spans three days in the downtown area during the summer, and planning for the event begins in November. Jared Bailey founded the festival to promote the music of Athens, Georgia; he was formerly of the free alternative weekly '' Flagpole'' and the influential early nightclub the 40 Watt Club. In 2009, AthFest became the 501(c)3 non-profit AthFest Educates, which seeks to advance high-quality music and arts education for local youth and the Athens community through direct support of school and community-based programs and events, including an annual music and arts festival. In 2010, AthFest Educates started the annual AthHalf Half Marathon as an additional fundraiser. The 2020 event, the 24th year of the festival, had been deferred to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making it the first time in 23 years that the festival was cancelled. Marble Festival
Jasper is a city in Pickens County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,684 at the 2010 census. The city is the county seat of Pickens County. History Jasper was founded in 1853 as seat of the newly formed Pickens County. It was incorporated in 1857 as a town and in 1957 as a city. The community is named for William Jasper, a hero of the American Revolutionary War. Geography Jasper is located at (34.469127, -84.434039). Georgia State Route 53 passes through the center of Jasper, while Georgia State Routes 5 and 515 bypass the city to its west. Hogansville is a city in Troup County, Georgia, United States. The population was 3,060 at the 2010 census. Since 1998, Hogansville has held an annual Hummingbird Festival in October. Adairsville is a city in Bartow County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 4,878. Adairsville is approximately halfway between Atlanta and Chattanooga on Interstate 75. It is south of Calhoun, northeast of Rome and north of Atlanta. The Great Locomotive Chase Festival
The Great Locomotive Chase Festival is a three-day celebration held in remembering the Great Locomotive Chase of April 12, 1862. It is held the first weekend each October in the center of downtown Adairsville, Georgia. Description The festival has arts and crafts booths, historical exhibits, concerts, entertainment, carnival Carnival is a Catholic Christian festive season that occurs before the liturgical season of Lent. The main events typically occur during February or early March, during the period historically known as Shrovetide (or Pre-Lent). Carnival ... rides, and food booths. The Grand Parade and multiple pageants are held on Friday and Saturday, as well as street dances. Gospel singing takes place on Sunday afternoon. Vienna, Georgia
The city of Vienna () is the county seat of Dooly County, Georgia, United States. The population was 4,011 at the 2010 census, up from 2,973 in 2000. Vienna is situated on the Flint River. It was established as Berrien in 1826. In 1833, its name was changed to Drayton. In 1841, it was renamed Vienna. Vienna was disincorporated at the time they changed the city's name to Vienna. The Big Pig Jig (official name Slosheye Trail Big Pig Jig) is a barbecue cooking competition held annually in Vienna, Georgia. It is the state pork cook-off of Georgia. History In 1982, a group of "pig cookers" in Vienna, Georgia, created the Big Pig Jig by combining a barbecue competition with an arts and crafts fair.
