List Of Endangered Ecological Communities In NSW
This List of endangered ecological communities in NSW (or EECs) has been compiled from the indices of final determinations (made by the NSW Scientific Committee, under the TSC Act and Biodiversity Acts), and available at the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage's website. Determinations prior to 25 August, 2017 refer to the Threatened Species Conservation Act, 1995 now replaced by the Biodiversity Conservation Act, 2016. Note that 1. This list may be incomplete; 2. Where a link has not been supplied to a final (FD) or preliminary (PD) determinations, the link given was broken (or alternatively, if the community was relisted at a later time, no iink may have been given); 3. CEEC indicates a "critically endangered ecological community". 4. VEC indicates a "vulnerable ecological community". 5. NSW Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (TSC Act)
The ''Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 (TSC Act)'' was enacted by the Parliament of New South Wales in 1995 to protect threatened species, populations and ecological communities in NSW. In 2016 it was replaced by the '' Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016''. These acts form the basis and the mechanisms in NSW by which species, populations and ecological communities are declared endangered, vulnerable or critically endangered, and under which people and corporations are prosecuted for destruction of habitat sheltering such species, populations or communities. Species, populations, and ecological communities are declared endangered on advice from the NSW scientific committee (established by the Act), which consists of 11 members appointed by the minister and whose purpose is to determine which species are to be listed as threatened species, which populations as endangered populations, and which ecological communities as endangered, critically endangered or vulnerable ecolo ... Weeping Myall Woodlands
The Weeping Myall Woodlands is an endangered ecological community, under the EPBC Act of the Commonwealth of Australia. It is found in inland Queensland and inland New South Wales, on alluvial plains west of the Great Dividing Range. It takes its name from '' Acacia pendula'', the weeping myall. The Weeping Myall woodlands ecological community in New South Wales has been named as the ''Myall Woodland in the Darling Riverine Plains, Brigalow Belt South, Cobar Peneplain, Murray-Darling Depression, Riverina and NSW South Western Slopes bioregions.'' Conservation status This ecological community has been listed as endangered under the ''Commonwealth EPBC Act'' since 7 January 2009. The key threats are clearing and ongoing degradation since this ecological community occurs on highly fertile and arable soils. Other threats are overgrazing and weed invasion.
