Massena Terminal Railroad
The Massena Terminal Railroad is a Class III railroad, Class III terminal railroad operating in the U.S. state of New York (state), New York. It operates of track from a connection at the CSX Transportation yard in Massena north to the Alcoa plant, the railroad's only customer. It was built in the early 20th century, beginning operations in 1900. In 2005, the railroad was purchased by holding company RailAmerica. Shortline holding company Genesee & Wyoming acquired the Massena Terminal Railroad in 2012 as part of its purchase of RailAmerica. The railroad's traffic comes mainly from aluminum and petroleum products. The MTR hauled around 4,300 carloads in 2008. The Lowville and Beaver River Railroad is a short-line railroad that was owned by Genesee Valley Transportation (GVT) of Batavia, New York from 1993 to Wednesday, January 24, 2007. History The Lowville & Beaver River Railroad interchanged at Lowville with the Utica & Black River Railroad (U&BR). The U&BR reached Lowville in 1868 and Carthage in 1871. The Ithaca Central Railroad is a shortline railroad operating in New York and Pennsylvania, owned by Watco. The ITHR leases and operates the Norfolk Southern-owned Ithaca Secondary from Sayre, Pennsylvania (Norfolk Southern interchange), to Ludlowville, New York. Housatonic Railroad
The Housatonic Railroad ( ; ) is a Class III railroad operating in southwestern New England and eastern New York. It was chartered in 1983 to operate a short section of ex-New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in northwestern Connecticut, and has since expanded north and south, as well as west into New York State. Falls Road Railroad
The Falls Road Railroad is a Class III short line railroad owned by Genesee Valley Transportation (GVT). The railroad operates in Niagara, Orleans, and Monroe counties in New York. Operations The railroad's right-of-way consists of of track, known as the ''Falls Road Branch'', originally part of the New York Central Railroad linking Niagara Falls and Rochester. The line passed to the Penn Central and then to Conrail ownership before being acquired on October 15, 1996. Dispatching is handled by Genesee Valley's operations center in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Depew, Lancaster And Western Railroad
The Depew, Lancaster and Western Railroad is a class III railroad operating in New York. It is a subsidiary of Genesee Valley Transportation (GVT). The DLWR is composed of two operations, one located between Depew, New York and Lancaster, New York and the other in Batavia, New York. Like other GVT subsidiaries, the railroad exclusively uses Alcos. The Lancaster division runs from Depew to Lancaster and maintains trackage rights with the Norfolk Southern Railway to interchange at Bison Yard in Buffalo. The Batavia division runs in Batavia and interchanges with CSX Transportation. The DLWR was formed in 1989 to purchase and operate former Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad and Lehigh Valley Railroad trackage from Conrail. Staten Island Railroad
The Staten Island Railway (SIR) is a railroad line in the New York City borough of Staten Island. It is owned by the Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority (SIRTOA), a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and operated by the New York City Transit Authority Department of Subways. SIR operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing local service between St. George and Tottenville, along the east side of the island.
