Some franchises have a regular color commentator while others, such as the Milwaukee Brewers, use two play-by-play announcers, with the primary often doing more innings than the secondary. Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball league composed of 30 teams, divided equally between the National League (baseball), National League (NL) and the American League (AL), with 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. MLB is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier professional baseball league in the world. Each team plays 162 games per season, with Opening Day traditionally held during the first week of April. The Sacramento Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California. Dave O'Brien (sportscaster)
David O'Brien (born August 3, 1963), nicknamed "OB", is an American sportscaster who is a lead play-by-play announcer on the New England Sports Network (NESN) for telecasts of the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB), and for college football and college basketball games aired on the ESPN Inc.-owned ACC Network. He has previously broadcast for MLB's Atlanta Braves, Florida Marlins, and New York Mets, and has announced other sports including basketball, football, and soccer. Brad Brach
Brad Brach ( ; born April 12, 1986) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the San Diego Padres, Baltimore Orioles, Atlanta Braves, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, and Cincinnati Reds. Brach was an All-Star in 2016. Amateur career Brach grew up in Freehold Township, New Jersey, where he attended Freehold Township High School. Brach grew up a New York Mets fan. He enrolled at Monmouth University and played college baseball as a starting pitcher for the Monmouth Hawks through his senior year. Brian Michael Roberts (born October 9, 1977) is an American former professional baseball second baseman. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 2001, and played for the team until 2013. He played his final season for the New York Yankees in 2014. Larry Benard "Ben" McDonald (born November 24, 1967) is an American former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher. The first overall pick in the 1989 MLB Draft, he played for the Baltimore Orioles and Milwaukee Brewers from 1989 through 1997. Baseball career Amateur After graduating from Denham Springs High School, McDonald was the 670th selection in the 27th round by the Atlanta Braves in the 1986 MLB draft. James Alvin Palmer (born October 15, 1945) is an American former professional baseball pitcher who played 19 years in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles (1965–1967, 1969–1984). Melanie Lynne Newman (born May 27, 1991) is an American radio and television Sports commentator#Main/play-by-play commentator, play-by-play broadcaster for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB) and previously did national ''Friday Night Baseball'' broadcasts on Apple TV+. She is the first woman to be a play-by-play announcer for the Orioles and one of only four female play-by-play broadcasters active in MLB. Benjamin L. Wagner (born August 7, 1980) is an American sportscaster. As of 2024 he works as a play-by-play announcer for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball, after having performed the same role for the Toronto Blue Jays from 2018 to 2023. Early life Wagner was born in New Paris, Indiana. As a child, he was a fan of the Chicago Cubs. He was hired for his first on-air role in November 1997, with WAWC-FM in Syracuse, Indiana.
