Denare Beach, Saskatchewan
Denare Beach is a northern village on the east shore of Amisk Lake, Saskatchewan. Located on Highway 167, the community is south-west of Flin Flon and north-east of Prince Albert. History The area originally settled around Amisk Lake was called "Beaver Lake". Amisk is Cree for Beaver and thus the origin of the name. In 1937, the subdivision of the present community of Denare Beach took place. The community quickly became a resort area following the construction of a roadway to the mining centre of Flin Flon. When Saskatchewan Parks became responsible for the area they changed the name from Amisk or Beaver to Denare Beach. Taking the first two letters from Department of Natural Resources they arrived at the name of Denare Beach. The community has managed to retain its resort atmosphere. Cumberland House () is a community in Division No. 18, Saskatchewan, Census Division No. 18 in northeast Saskatchewan, Canada on the Saskatchewan River. Buffalo Narrows () is a northern village in Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a community of 1,110 people. Located at the "Narrows" between Peter Pond Lake and Churchill Lake, tourism and resource extraction (logging, fishing) are its main economic activities. History Buffalo Narrows or ''Détroit du Boeuf'' as it was called in French was founded in the early 20th century as trapping, mink ranching and fishing settlement by Scandinavian traders. The community developed around an earlier Dene settlement. John Macoun, who was travelling the fur trade route from Methye Portage to Lac Île-à-la-Crosse visited the "Narrows" in September 1875. Beauval, Saskatchewan
Beauval () is a northern village located in Northern Saskatchewan, near Lac Île-à-la-Crosse. It was founded in the early 20th century as a Roman Catholic mission and as a transportation centre. Highway 165 goes through the community. Highway 918 three kilometres east leads north to Patuanak. Eight kilometres east is the hamlet of Lac La Plonge on Lac La Plonge. Eight kilometres west where Highway 165 joins Highway 155 is Beauval Forks. The Beauval Airport along with several businesses are located there. Beauval is situated in the valley of the Beaver River hence the name "beautiful valley" or "beau val" in French. The population of Beauval was 756 in 2011. Air Ronge
Air Ronge is a northern village in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada, 235 km north of Prince Albert. It lies on the western shore of Lac la Ronge, and is 3 km south of La Ronge and Lac La Ronge Provincial Park. According to 2006's census, the northern village is currently growing at 8.1%, and is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in Saskatchewan. There are an additional 3,500 people in La Ronge (though Saskatchewan Tourism claims more than 5,000 ) and 2,000 in the Lac La Ronge First Nation. The community is on the edge of the Canadian Shield.
