The following is a list of some of the best-selling albums in Colombia, one of the largest List of largest recorded music markets, music markets in Latin America. The list include album sales of over 100,000 units. According to Colombian newspaper ''El Tiempo (Colombia), El Tiempo'', Carlos Vives' ''Clásicos de la Provincia'' became the first million-seller album in country's history. National music dominate the list, with artists such as Carlos Vives, Diomedes Díaz, Juancho Rois, Margarita Rosa de Francisco, Juanes and Shakira appearing more than once in the list. ''Cromos'' is a Colombian variety and photojournalism magazine, known for widely covering the Miss Colombia pageant on editions called ''Mini Cromos''. The magazine was founded in 1916 by Miguel Santiago Valencia and Abelardo Arboleda, both from the Colombian city of Popayán. It is published on a weekly basis and has its headquarters in Bogotá, D.C. ''La Tierra del Olvido'' (''The Forgotten Land'') is the seventh album by Colombian singer/composer Carlos Vives. The album was released on July 25, 1995, and contained a split of vallenato covers, as well as Vives' first foray into original compositions in the vallenato style. The album was nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award for Tropical/Salsa Album of the Year. The album consolidated Vives as Colombia's most famous musician at the time of its release. ''Pies Descalzos'' (, ) is the third studio album by Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, released on 6 October 1995, by Sony Music Colombia. Its music incorporates Latin pop styles, additionally experimenting with pop rock elements. ''El Siglo de Torreón'' is a Mexican daily newspaper based in Comarca Lagunera, Mexico. It was founded in 1922 in Torreón, Coahuila by Antonio de Juambelz y Bracho under the direction of Joaquin Moreno. History In 1921, Antonio de Juambelz y Bracho was dedicated to the edition of a newspaper in the capital of Coahuila that promoted the candidacy for governor of Gral. Arnulfo González, and when he became governor, the newspaper disappeared. ''Semana'' (Spanish: ''Week'') is a weekly magazine in Colombia. History ''Semana'' was founded in 1946 by Alberto Lleras Camargo (who would become president of Colombia in 1958) and that folded in 1961. It was relaunched by journalist in 1983. Development Felipe López Caballero, the person who restarted the magazine, took two earlier Colombian magazines as models. One was Camargo's ''Semana''; the other was '' :es:Alternativa'', a left-wing weekly published by Enrique Santos and Gabriel García Márquez. The foreign magazines that he strove to imitate were ''Time'' and ''Newsweek''. Recalling the prestige that had been enjoyed by Lleras's magazine, López asked for, and was given, permission to use the same name. The first issue came out on 12 May 1982. Grupo Niche
Grupo Niche is a salsa group founded in 1978 in Cali, Colombia. It enjoyed great popularity throughout Latin America. It was founded by Jairo Varela and Alexis Lozano. Varela remained with the group throughout his life, serving as producer, director, songwriter, vocalist, and guiro player. Alexis Lozano, trombone player and arranger later left to form Orquesta Guayacán. The group also included Nicolas Cristancho "Macabi" on the piano, Francisco Garcia "Porky" on the bass, Luis Pacheco, on the congas, and vocalists Jorge Bazán and Hector Viveros. Grupo Niche's first album, "Al Pasito", released in 1979, did little to challenge the dominating salsa band of Colombia at the time, Fruko y sus Tesos. Two years later, however, the group found success with their second album, "Querer es Poder", particularly with the single "Buenaventura y Caney".
