Yosef (Joe) Alon (Hebrew: יוסף (ג'ו) אלון), born Josef Plaček, also known as Joe Alon (July 25, 1929July 1, 1973), was an Israeli Air Force officer and military attache to the U.S. who was mysteriously shot and killed in the driveway of his home in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Early life Alon was born Josef Plaček on kibbutz Ein Harod to Jewish immigrants from Czechoslovakia, Siegfried 'Friedl' and Thekla Plaček. When he was two, his family returned to Czechoslovakia, where they settled in Teplice, in the Sudetenland. Following the 1938 Munich Agreement, which resulted in the annexation of Sudetenland to Nazi Germany, Alon and his family moved to Prague. Israeli Bangkok Embassy Hostage Crisis
The Israeli Bangkok embassy hostage crisis occurred on 28 December 1972. It was a raid by a squad of four Palestinian militants, belonging to the Black September organization, on the Israeli embassy building in Bangkok in which the militants held six Israeli embassy staff hostage. After 19 hours of negotiations, the hijackers agreed to abandon the embassy in exchange for being flown to Egypt. The raid was one of a number of attacks against that have been conducted against Israeli embassies and diplomats. Attack The attack began when two Black September operatives infiltrated a party being held at the embassy. Once these two were inside, two others climbed over the wall with automatic weapons and together the four took over the embassy. Shimon Avimor born Erich S. Schwarz, was an Israeli diplomat and author. Avimor was the Israeli Ambassador to Cambodia, Laos (non-resident, Phnom Penh 1972 – 1975), Gabon. Black September Organization
The Black September Organization (BSO) ( ar, منظمة أيلول الأسود, translit=Munaẓẓamat Aylūl al-Aswad) was a Palestinian militant organization founded in 1970. Besides other actions, the group was responsible for the assassination of the Jordanian Prime Minister Wasfi Tal, and the Munich massacre, in which eleven Israeli athletes and officials were kidnapped and killed, as well as a West German policeman losing his life, during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, their most publicized event. These attacks led to the creation or specialization of permanent counter-terrorism forces in many European countries. Killing Of Ami Shchori
On 18 September 1972, a letter bomb mailed from Amsterdam to the Israeli embassy in London killed Dr. Ami Y. Shachori, the Israeli agriculture attaché at the Israeli embassies in the United Kingdom and Scandinavia. Theodor Kaddar, Shachori's designated replacement, was injured in the blast. Shachori had been in London since 1968. His role at the embassy was to promote Israeli agricultural products. He was a soil expert and a graduate of the University of California and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Letter bomb campaign In September 1972 before the attack, the Palestinian Liberation Organization's official Radio Elghiza gave a 10-day warning of the letter bomb campaign.
