Ambassador
An ambassador is an official envoy, especially a high-ranking diplomat who represents a state and is usually accredited to another sovereign state or to an international organization as the resident representative of their own government or sovereign or appointed for a special and often temporary diplomatic assignment. The word is also used informally for people who are known, without national appointment, to represent certain professions, activities, and fields of endeavor, such as sales. An ambassador is the ranking government representative stationed in a foreign capital or country. Hovhannes Masehyan
Hovhannes Khan Masehian ( hy, Յովհաննէս Մասեհեան, February 23, 1864 in Tehran - November 19, 1931 in Kharbin) was an Iranian Armenian translator and diplomat, well known as the translator of Shakespeare's and Byron's works into Armenian. Since 1912 he was the Persian Ambassador to Germany. From 1927 to 1929 he was the Persian Ambassador to the Great Britain. He was the first Ambassador of Persia in Japan. Masehian's translation of Hamlet was printed in 1894 by the Armenian publishing society. Hovhannes Hovhannisyan and Hovhannes Tumanyan praised this translation in their reviews. According to Gevorg Emin, Masehian's translations are "excellent" and "sound so wonderful in Armenian". The polished and refined translations by Masehian have always been among the greatest treasures in the long history of Armenian translation activities. Mohsen Rais ( fa, محسن رئیس; 1896–1975), also known as Mirza Mohsen Khan, was an Iranian diplomat and served as foreign minister and as ambassador during the Pahlavi era. Early life and education Rais was born in 1896 in Tehran. His father was Zahir ol Mulk. He was a graduate of the University of Geneva. Career Rais joined the Iranian foreign ministry in 1919. He was part of an association, Gamiyet-i Iran-i Qavan (Young Iran Association), which was founded by Iranian intellectuals in 1921. The founders of the association were all educated in Europe. Rais served as a counsellor in Paris from 1930 to 1933. He was named director of the League of Nations and treaty department in the ministry in 1933 and was in office until 1935. Abolghassem Nadjm (Najm ol-Molk) ( fa, ابولقاسم نجم), ''Abolqāsem Najm''/''Abolqassem Najm'' (11 May 1892 – October 19, 1983) was an Iranian politician, cabinet minister, and diplomat. Early life and education His father was Mirza Mahmoud Shirazi, a merchant, who died when Abolqasem was an infant. His mother was the daughter of Iran's first modern physicist and astronomer, Mirza Abdulqaffar Nadjm ol-Molk. Abdulqaffar, who taught mathematics and physics at Dar ul-Funun, took Abolqasem under his custody after Abolqasem was orphaned. Abolqasem received his basic education from his grandfather and later inherited his grandfather's title of "Nadjm ol-Molk" (star of the nation) after Mirza Abdulqaffar's retirement. Friedrich Ebert (; 4 February 187128 February 1925) was a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) and the first president of Germany from 1919 until his death in office in 1925. Ebert was elected leader of the SPD on the death in 1913 of August Bebel.
