Monika Kapil Mohta (Hindi: मोनिका कपिल मोहता, born 19 January 1962) is a diplomat of the Indian Foreign Service, who served as the Ambassador of India to Switzerland from August 2020 to 31 January 2022. She holds the rank of Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and was previously the Ambassador of India to Sweden and Latvia (2016 - 2020) and the Ambassador of India to Poland and Lithuania (2011 - 2016). Asaf Ali (11 May 1888 – 2 April 1953) was an Indian independence fighter and noted Indian lawyer. He was the first Indian Ambassador to the United States. He also served as the Governor of Odisha. Education Asaf Ali was educated at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He was called to bar from Lincoln's Inn in England. Indian National Movement In 1914, the British attack on the Ottoman Empire had a large effect on the Indian Muslim community. Asaf Ali supported the Turkish side and resigned from the Privy Council. History The first diplomatic engagement between the countries was a Treaty of Friendship signed at New Delhi on 14 August 1948. Uma Shankar Bajpai (1921/1922, Jaipur – 6 February 2005) was an Indian diplomat and a veteran journalist. He was also the director of India International Centre. Kanti Bajpai, the Indian academic, is his son. Life and career Uma Shankar Bajpai was born in Jaipur. His father was Girija Shankar Bajpai (1891–1954), an eminent Indian civil servant, diplomat and Governor. Bajpai joined the Indian Foreign Service. He was posted at the Karachi Consulate, Pakistan, for some time. Bajpai's last foreign posting was as High Commissioner of Canada. He retired as the Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sibi George is an Indian civil servant of the Indian Foreign Service cadre who is Ambassador of India to Japan.
