Gujarat, a state of India, has airports which have access to international flights, domestic and some disused airstrips for emergency purposes. The airports are operated and owned by either the Airports Authority of India, Indian Air Force, Government of Gujarat or private companies. There are three international airports, nine domestic airports, two private airports and three military bases in Gujarat. Two more airports are under construction. There are three disused airports, one of them serving as a flying school. Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited (GUJSAIL) has been established by the Government of Gujarat to foster the development of aviation infrastructure in Gujarat. Naliya is a town, which is also the taluka headquarters of Abdasa Taluka of Kutch District, Gujarat, India. It is located on the western end of Kutch 19 km by road from ancient port of Jakhau. History Naliya was a prosperous trading town in past who had trading ties with Zanzibar and Bombay. It had a population of 5238 in 1880. Kandla Airport
Kandla Airport is located north of Kandla and Varsamedi Village Anjar in the Kutch District of the state of Gujarat, India. History The airport was built in the late 1950s. Indian Airlines commenced passenger operations by deploying DC-3 Dakota aircraft and later in 1960 using their F-27 Fokker Friendship aircraft & by HS748 Avro aircraft and was followed by Vayudoot. Gujarat Airways also used to operate flights to Mumbai until 1999. After a gap of seven years, commercial services resumed again in October 2006 with Air Deccan operating daily services between Mumbai and Kandla using ATR aircraft until the airline ceased operations in 2012. Kandla, now officially Deendayal Port Authority, is a seaport and town in Kutch district of Gujarat state in Western India, near the city of Gandhidham. Located on the Gulf of Kutch, it is one of India's major ports on the west coast. It is about 256 nautical miles southeast of the Port of Karachi in Pakistan and about 430 nautical miles north-northwest of the Port of Mumbai. Kandla Port was constructed in the 1950s as the chief seaport serving western India. It is the largest port of India by volume of cargo handled. Bhuj Rudra Mata Air Force Base
Bhuj Rudra Mata Air Force Base is an Indian Air Force base, which shares its runway with Bhuj Airport at the town of Bhuj in Gujarat, India. It is part of South Western Air Command. The base at Bhuj which suffered extensive damage during the 2001 Gujarat earthquake on 26 January 2001, now stands completely reconstructed. At a solemn ceremony, Air Marshal AR Ghandhi, AOC-in-C, South Western Air Command, inaugurated a special Memorial erected at the air base to pay respects to 30 'air warriors' and 68 family members of the IAF personnel who died in the tragedy. Bhuj Airport is a domestic airport located in Bhuj in the Kutch District of the state of Gujarat, India. It is located 4 km from Bhuj. It is situated at an altitude of and occupies a total area of . It is located from the Indo-Pakistan border. The airport was previously made up of two bunkers/buildings near the Bhuj Rudra Mata Air Force Base, with which it shares the runway. Bhuj () is a Municipality and District Headquarters of Kutch District in the state of Gujarat, India. Etymology According to legend, Kutch was ruled by the Nāga chieftains in the past. Sagai, a queen of Sheshapattana, who was married to King Bheria Kumar, rose up against Bhujanga, the last chieftain of Naga. After the battle, Bheria was defeated and Queen Sagai committed sati.
