This is a list of airports in Bangladesh (, grouped by type and sorted by location. All airports are operated and maintained by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. Some of the airfields are used for military and training purposes by the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Bangladesh has five domestic airports, three international airports (which are also used for domestic flights) and four STOL (short take-off and landing) ports, with one new domestic airport under construction. IATA Airport Code
An IATA airport code, also known as an IATA location identifier, IATA station code, or simply a location identifier, is a unique three-letter geocode designating many airports, cities (with one or more airports) and metropolitan areas (cities with more than one airport) around the world, defined by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The characters prominently displayed on bag tag, baggage tags attached at airport check-in desks are an example of a way these codes are used. Noakhali District
Noakhali District (), historically known as Bhulua (), is a Districts of Bangladesh, district in southeastern Bangladesh, located in Chattogram Division. It was established as a district in 1821, and officially named Noakhali in 1868. The district's administrative center is situated in Noakhali municipality, also referred to as Maijdee, within Noakhali Sadar Upazila. Notably, Noakhali is the only district in Bangladesh whose capital city does not share the district's name. Comilla Airport
Comilla Airport is a public use airport located near the city of Comilla, in eastern Bangladesh. History Comilla Airport was built by the United States in 1941−1942 during World War II. After the war, the airport catered to domestic flights. Pakistan International Airlines flew from Comilla to Dacca and Chittagong, and after independence Biman Bangladesh operated flights to Dhaka. The airport became defunct in 1976. Air service resumed in 1994 but lasted two weeks due to poor demand. Comilla (), officially spelled Cumilla, is a metropolis on the banks of the Gomti River in eastern Bangladesh. Comilla was one of the cities of ancient Bengal. Cox's Bazar International Airport is a international airport in the resort town of Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh. The airport serves the residents of Cox's Bazar as well as tourists to the region. Cox's Bazar Airport is undergoing massive expansion to be upgraded to an international airport with international flights starting from 27 July 2025. History During World War II, the British Raj established an airfield near Cox's Bazar. It was converted into a domestic airport by the central government of Pakistan in 1956, seven years after the city was incorporated into the Pakistani province of East Bengal (later East Pakistan). The airport was damaged during the Bangladesh Liberation War and was renovated and reopened in 1972. Cox's Bazar
Cox's Bazar (; ; ) is a city, fishing port, tourism centre, and Cox's Bazar District, district headquarters in south-eastern Bangladesh. Cox's Bazar Beach, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangladesh, is the longest uninterrupted naturally occurring sea beach in the world. Located south of the city of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar is also known by the name ''Panowa'', which translates literally as "yellow flower." An old name was "Palongkee". Shah Amanat International Airport
Shah Amanat International Airport () is an international airport serving Bangladesh's southeastern port city of Chattogram. Operated and maintained by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, it is the second-largest international airport in Bangladesh after Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is used by the Bangladesh Air Force as a part of 'BAF Zahurul Haq Base'. It was formerly known as MA Hannan International Airport, named after Awami League politician M. A. Hannan, but was renamed on 2 April 2005 by the Government of Bangladesh, after an 18th-century Islamic saint, Shah Amanat. Patuakhali Airport
Patuakhali Airport is an airfield in Patuakhali District, Barisal Division, in the south of Bangladesh. It was built to serve the tourist attraction of Kuakata, and it provided significant assistance with flood relief after Cyclone Sidr in 2007. Currently, it is one of the unused airports of Bangladesh. It was not fully constructed because of insufficient funds. But as the pressure of tourists seeking to visit Kuakata has increased, the Patuakhali authorities have been considering completing the construction of the airport. Patuakhali
Patuakhali ( ''Potuakhali'') is a town and district headquarters of Patuakhali District located on the southern bank of Laukathi river in Barisal Division in Bangladesh. It is the administrative headquarter of Patuakhali district and one of the oldest towns and municipalities in the country. Patuakhali municipality was established in 1892. The town covers an area of 27.03 km2 with a population of 65,000, according to the 2011 census. Title There are different opinions about the origin of the name "Patuakhali".
