This is a list of Welsh people (); an ethnic group and nation associated with Wales. Historian John Davies (historian), John Davies argues that the origin of the Welsh nation can be traced to the late 4th and early 5th centuries, following the End of Roman rule in Britain, Roman departure from Britain, although Brythonic languages, Brythonic or other Celtic languages seem to have been spoken in Wales since much earlier. Richard Ian Cox (born October 3, 1973) is a Welsh-born Canadian actor. He is best known for his voice work for English-language dubs of anime, mainly for '' Inuyasha''. Cox gained prominence for playing the character of Henry Dailey's (played by Mickey Rooney) teenaged traveller and horse rider, Alec Ramsay, in The Family Channel's '' Adventures of the Black Stallion'' during the early 1990s. Lauren Drew (born 17 February 1993) is a Welsh actress and singer. Known for her work in musical theatre, she won a WhatsOnStage Award and received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination. Early life Drew was born in Port Talbot. She pursued a BTEC National Diploma in Musical Theatre at Neath Port Talbot College before going on to study at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating in 2016. Windsor Davies (28 August 1930 – 17 January 2019) was a British actor. He is best remembered for playing Battery Sergeant Major Williams in the sitcom '' It Ain't Half Hot Mum'' (1974–1981) over its entire run. The show's popularity resulted in Davies and his co-star Don Estelle achieving a UK number-one hit with a version of " Whispering Grass" in 1975. He later starred with Donald Sinden in '' Never the Twain'' (1981–1991), and his deep Welsh-accented voice was heard extensively in advertising voice-overs. Ryan Davies
Ryan Davies (22 January 1937 – 22 April 1977) was a Welsh comedian, actor, musician, singer, and songwriter. Though his career lasted just 11 years, he became widely known in Wales through his work with Ronnie Williams as the comedic double act Ryan and Ronnie. Early life Davies was born in Glanamman on 22 January 1937. He was educated in Bangor and at London's Central School of Speech and Drama. Career Davies' first professional appearance was in the National Eisteddfod of Wales in Aberavon in 1966. Dennis Wilfred Davies, known professionally as Richard Davies (25 January 1926 – 8 October 2015), was a Welsh actor. He was probably best known for his performance as the exasperated schoolmaster Mr. Price in the popular LWT situation comedy '' Please Sir!''. He used a broad Welsh accent for much of his work, but had used other accents to play a wide range of characters, in addition to several Welsh stereotypes. Phoebe Davies (February 7, 1864 – December 4, 1912) was a Welsh-born American stage actress who starred in over 4,000 performances of the Charlotte Blair Parker, Lottie Blair Parker play, ''Way Down East''. Early life Phoebe Davies was born in Cardigan, Wales, the daughter of David and Annie (née Griffiths) Davies. Her father, who was originally drawn to California by the Gold Rush of 1849, returned with his family in the early 1870s to work for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company. Her father later joined the Lighthouse Service where he would rise to captain the lighthouse tender Madroño. While still in school Davies won an audition with David Belasco, then stage manager of the Baldwin Theatre Stock Company in San Francisco, that led to an offer to play a part in their next production. Garnon Davies is a Welsh actor, best known for his television appearances. Career Davies was born in Pyle, near Bridgend, South Wales, on 16 December 1982.
