The UK Singles Chart is one of many music charts compiled by the Official Charts Company that calculates the best-selling singles of the week in the United Kingdom. Before 2004, the chart was only based on the sales of CD single, physical singles with airplay figures and Music download, digital downloads excluded from the official chart. This list shows singles that peaked in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart during 2000 in British music charts, 2000, as well as singles which peaked in List of UK top-ten singles in 1999, 1999 but were in the top 10 in 2000. The entry date is when the song appeared in the top 10 for the first time (week ending, as published by the Official Charts Company, which is six days after the chart is announced). "You're My Number One" is a song by British pop group S Club 7, released as the fourth and final single from the band's debut album, ''S Club'' (1999), on 13 December 1999. The single was released only in UK as a double A-side with " Two in a Million" and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart; in other countries, only "Two in a Million" was released. "The Masses Against the Classes" is a song by British rock band Manic Street Preachers, released as a limited-edition single in January 2000. It was a stand-alone single, not featured on any studio album, and was deleted (removed from wholesale supply) on the day of release. Despite being deleted on the day of release, the single peaked at the top of the UK Singles Chart Background The title of the song is derived from a quotation from the 19th-century Liberal Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone ("All the world over, I will back the masses against the classes").
