List Of Trotskyist Internationals
This is a list of Trotskyist internationals. It includes all of the many political internationals which self-identify as Trotskyist. Of the organizations listed, two claim to be the original Fourth International founded in 1938: the reunified Fourth International (USFI) and the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI). The Fourth International split into two factions 1953 over the question of historic perspective, with the International Secretariat (ISFI) turning in favour of deep entryism and supporting petty-bourgeois nationalist movements in less developed countries, and the International Committee (ICFI) upholding the need to form revolutionary parties. The factions reunited in 1963 resulting in the formation of reunified Fourth International (USFI), while parts of the ICFI did not. Political International
A political international is a transnational organization of political parties having similar ideology or political orientation (e.g. liberalism, socialism, Islamism). The international works together on points of agreement to co-ordinate activity. Political internationals have increased in popularity and influence since their beginnings in the political left of 19th-century Europe, as political activists have paid more attention to developments for or against their ideological favor in other countries and continents. After World War II, other ideological movements formed their political internationals to communicate among aligned parliamentarians and legislative candidates as well as to communicate with intergovernmental and supranational organizations such as the United Nations and later the European Union. The International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI) is a public faction of the Fourth International founded in 1953. They differ not only in method, but also in strict ideology and interpretation, although they are generally within the tradition of Marxism–Leninism. Revolutionary Workers Ferment
The Revolutionary Workers Ferment, often known by its Spanish name or initials Fomento Obrero Revolucionario or FOR, was a small Trotskyist international founded by Grandizo Munis, which arose as a split from the Fourth International at its Second Congress in 1948.Alexander, Robert ''International Trotskyism: a documented analysis of the world movement'' Durham, Duke University Press 1991 pp. 250–251. Though Munis and his co-thinkers carried on polemics with other currents of Trotskyst origin for three decades, and it was only in the late 1970s that a formal organization was formed. The Workers International to Rebuild the Fourth International (WIRFI) was a Trotskyist international organisation. It was established in the United Kingdom in 1990, following a split from the Workers Revolutionary Party. It was considered part of the radical branch of Trotskyism, and was led by Bob Archer. It ceased operation in 2015. History In 1985 the Workers Revolutionary Party (UK) (WRP) underwent a fragmentation which split the organization apart after the ousting of its leader, Gerry Healy. Initially the organization split into two: with the WRP remaining under the leadership of Sheila Torrence and a splinter group attached to the ''Workers Press'' being led by Cliff Slaughter. Internationalist Communist Union
The Internationalist Communist Union (ICU; French: ''Union Communiste Internationaliste'') is an international grouping of Trotskyist political parties, centred on Lutte Ouvrière in France. It believes that the socialist transformation of society can be accomplished only by the working class, consciously fighting in its own class interests, and therefore that the task of revolutionary groups is to construct a working class revolutionary party. The ICU believes that the only possible programmatic basis for revolutionaries rests on Marxist ideas in the tradition of the Russian Revolution of 1917 and its Bolshevik leaders Vladimir Lenin and Leon Trotsky. Coordinating Committee For The Refoundation Of The Fourth International
The Coordinating Committee for the Refoundation of the Fourth International (CRFI; , CRCI) was a Trotskyism, Trotskyist international association. It was formed in 2004 at a conference in Buenos Aires called by the Movement for the Refoundation of the Fourth International. It had members in South America, Western Europe, and the Middle East. The committee had nine members from Argentina, Chile, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Uruguay, Turkey, Finland and Venezuela. They included Jorge Altamira, Savas Matsas, Sungur Savran and Marco Ferrando. The Argentinian PO was the largest section of the CRFI and as such, drew its international co-thinkers into the new organisation from other countries in Latin America. However the Workers Revolutionary Party (Greece), Workers Revolutionary Party of Greece and the International Trotskyist Opposition had different roots from the PO and its allies.
