Cinema Of Thailand
The cinema of Thailand dates back to the early days of filmmaking, when King Chulalongkorn's 1897 visit to Bern, Switzerland was recorded by François-Henri Lavancy-Clarke. The film was then brought to Bangkok, where it was exhibited. This sparked more interest in film by the Thai Royal Family and local businessmen, who brought in filmmaking equipment and started to exhibit foreign films. By the 1920s, a local film industry had started and in the 1930s, the Thai film industry had its first "golden age", with a number of studios producing films. The years after the Second World War saw a resurgence of the industry, which used 16 mm film to produce hundreds of films, many of them hard-driving action films. The most notable action filmmaker in the 1970s was Chalong Pakdivijit. Known internationally as P. Chalong or Philip Chalong, Chalong became the first Thai director who could successfully break into the international market and made a profit with his 1973 action-packed film ...

Sombat Metanee
Sombat Metanee (; 26 June 1937 – 18 August 2022) was a Thai actor and film director, who was honored as National Artist in the performing arts branch (movies-television drama) in 2016. At one time, he held the Guinness World Record for most film appearances (more than 600). A prolific leading actor in action films, romance, dramas, comedies and musicals at the height of his career in the 1960s and 1970s, he continued to act in Thai films and television series, making frequent appearances on talk shows and in on-screen commercials. Black Silk
''Black Silk'' ( or ''Prae dum'') is a 1961 Thai crime drama film written and directed by Rattana Pestonji. Considered the first Thai film noir, ''Black Silk'' was also among the first Thai films to be exhibited at overseas film festivals, screening at the 11th Berlin International Film Festival in 1961. Plot Seni, a club owner, is under pressure from a rival, Wan, to pay an outstanding loan. Upon hearing that he has a long-lost brother named Sema, Seni sends his loyal lieutenants Tom and Pon to visit Sema, only to find that Sema has died. Seni decides that he can use the situation to his advantage, and buries Sema's body in a forest. Seni and Tom orchestrate the death of Wan, by setting fire to Wan's car, pushing it off a cliff and framing Wan's assistant Sin, also dead, for the murder. Seni then assumes the identity of his dead brother, free and clear of debts and Wan's meddling. Tom, meanwhile, has fallen in love with Phrae, a widowed mother who has worn black silk since her ...

Dark Heaven
''Dark Heaven'' ( or ''Sawan mued'') is a 1958 musical-comedy-romance-drama film directed by Rattana Pestonji and written by Suwat Woradilok. Plot A poor orphan girl, Nien, is on the run after stealing some food that a wealthy man had purchased to feed some dogs. She takes refuge with a singing garbage collector named Choo, who hides Nien in his garbage cart while the wealthy man and a policeman search for the girl. Choo then takes Nien back to his humble shack and gives her shelter. The pair fall in love, but their romance is cut short when he is drafted into the army and sent off to war. For a time, Nien takes over Choo's job as garbage collector, until she is adopted by a wealthy woman, who treats Nien as the daughter she never had. Mitr Chaibancha
Mitr Chaibancha (; 28 January 1934 – 8 October 1970) was a Thai (ethnic group), Thai film actor. He acted in 266 films from 1956 to 1970. He died on 8 October 1970 at Dongtan Beach, Pattaya#Jomtien Beach, Jomtien, Pattaya, South Pattaya, after falling from a helicopter during the filming of a stunt for the final scene of ''Golden Eagle (film), Insee Thong'' (''Golden Eagle''). At the height of his career in the 1960s, Mitr, along with Petchara Chaowarat, made a string of hit films that packed cinemas. Of the 75 to 100 films produced each year by the Thai film industry during this period, Mitr starred in nearly half of them.
