''Sweet Valley High'' is a series of young adult novels attributed to American author Francine Pascal, who presided over a team of ghostwriters to produce the series. Francine Pascal
Francine Pascal (''née'' Rubin, born May 13, 1938) is an American author best known for creating the Sweet Valley series of young adult novels. '' Sweet Valley High'' was the backbone of the collection, and was made into a popular television series. There were also several spin-offs, including '' The Unicorn Club'' and '' Sweet Valley University.'' Although most of these books were published in the 1980s and 1990s, they remained so popular that several titles have been re-released in recent years. Biography Francine Rubin was born in Manhattan, New York, and raised in Queens, New York, United States. Her father was an auctioneer. She began her writing career writing scripts for the soap opera, The Young Marrieds alongside her husband, John Pascal. The couple also wrote a Broadway musical, George M!, with her brother Michael Stewart. Blackballing is a rejection in a traditional form of secret ballot, where a white ball or ballot constitutes a vote in support and a black ball signifies opposition. The system is typically used where an organization's rules provide that one or two objections, rather than an at-least-50% share of votes, are sufficient to defeat a proposition. Since the seventeenth century, these rules have commonly applied to elections to membership of many gentlemen's clubs and similar institutions such as Masonic lodges and fraternities. A large supply of black and white balls is provided for voters. Each voter audibly casts a single ball into the ballot box under cover of the box, or of a combination of a cloth and the box itself, so that observers can see who votes but not how they are voting. Amy Boesky
Amy Boesky is an American author and a professor of English at Boston College. Life Born in Detroit, Boesky studied her undergraduate degree at Harvard College before completing a M.Phil in Renaissance English at the University of Oxford. After completing her master's degree and returning to the United States, Boesky worked as an editorial assistant and also began work as one of the principal ghostwriters for the ''Sweet Valley High'' series originated by Francine Pascal. Boesky's first contribution to the series was the sixteenth novel, ''Rags to Riches''; she would go on to write fifty books for the ''Sweet Valley'' franchise while completing a PhD at Harvard University. Boesky finished ghostwriting after earning an assistant professorship. She currently is a professor at Boston College, where she has taught and researched the history of adolescent fiction and 17th-century English literature and culture, including the history of timepieces and temporal forms.
