The Speedway Grand Prix are a series of stand-alone motorcycle speedway events over the course of a season used to determine the Speedway World Champion and below are a list of records associated with the event since its inception in 1995. From the 2007-2019 seasons, the format was changed with points scored for every ride instead of the set points scoring system used until 2020 when a new format based on overall positions was introduced with points scored in heats only used to determine a rider's progress in a Grand Prix. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). Competitors use this surface to slide their machines sideways, powersliding or broadsiding into the bends. On the straight sections of the track, the motorcycles reach speeds of up to . Hans Nielsen (speedway Rider)
Hans Hollen Nielsen (born 26 December 1959) is a Danish former professional motorcycle speedway rider. He competed in the Speedway World Championships from 1977 to 1999. Nielsen is notable for winning four Speedway World Championship titles. During his career, he won a total of 22 world championships, making him arguably the most successful speedway rider of all time. In 2012, Nielsen was named an Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Legend for his motorcycling achievements. He later managed the Danish national team. Career Nielsen was born in Arentsminde near Brovst, Denmark. He was one of, if not the most successful riders the sport has ever seen. Antonio Lindbäck
Antonio Lindbäck (born 5 May 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Sweden, who competed in the Speedway World Championship and was a member of the Swedish team who won the Speedway World Cup in 2004 and 2015. He earned 17 caps for the Sweden national speedway team. Career Lindbäck made his international debut in 2004 with firstly a wild card ride in the Speedway Grand Prix series but he made a bigger impression in the Speedway World Cup riding for the Swedish team. He became the European Under-19 Champion in 2004 and Scandinavian Under-21 Champion in 2005. Krzysztof Kasprzak (; born 18 July 1984 in Leszno, Poland) is a Polish international motorcycle speedway rider, who became World Under-21 Champion in 2005 and won the silver medal during the 2014 Speedway Grand Prix. He also won five World team titles and He earned 13 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Kasprzak became the European Champion in 2003 after winning the 2003 Individual Speedway European Championship. He also made his British speedway debut after joining Poole Pirates and won the Polish pairs championship. Tommy Knudsen
Tommy Knudsen (born 9 November 1961 in Roager, Denmark) is a former Motorcycle speedway rider who won eight Speedway World Team Cups, and two World Pairs. He earned 81 caps for the Denmark national speedway team. He is not to be confused with Tom P. Knudsen (born 1968), another rider from the period. Career Knudsen first became known when he won the Danish Under-16 Championships of 1975 and 1976 before becoming the Danish Under-21 Champion in 1978. Knudsen started racing in the United Kingdom during second half meetings in 1978. He was signed up by Coventry Bees in 1979 and was touted as a future champion. Knudsen won the 1980 Individual Speedway Junior European Championship and recorded an 8.10 average for Coventry during the 1980 British League season. Leon Madsen
Leon Daniel Madsen (born 5 September 1988) is a Danish speedway rider who is twice a World Championship silver medalist. Career Born in Vejle, Madsen won the 80cc junior World Championship in 2001. In 2018, Madsen won the Individual Speedway European Championship for the first time. The following year in 2019, he won the silver medal in the Speedway World Championship, finishing runner-up in the 2019 Speedway Grand Prix behind Bartosz Zmarzlik. Daniel Bewley (born 20 May 1999) is a British international speedway rider. Career Bewley started riding for the Belle Vue Colts and as a reserve for the Edinburgh Monarchs in 2017. Niels Kristian Trochmann Iversen (, born 20 June 1982 in Esbjerg, Denmark) is an international motorcycle speedway rider. He is a seven times national champion of Denmark and was part of the Denmark speedway team, Danish teams that won the Speedway World Cup in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014.
