Wetlands
A wetland is a distinct semi-aquatic ecosystem whose groundcovers are flooded or saturated in water, either permanently, for years or decades, or only seasonally. Flooding results in oxygen-poor ( anoxic) processes taking place, especially in the soils. Wetlands form a transitional zone between waterbodies and dry lands, and are different from other terrestrial or aquatic ecosystems due to their vegetation's roots having adapted to oxygen-poor waterlogged soils. They are considered among the most biologically diverse of all ecosystems, serving as habitats to a wide range of aquatic and semi-aquatic plants and animals, with often improved water quality due to plant removal of excess nutrients such as nitrates and phosphorus. Wetlands exist on every continent, except Antarctica. The water in wetlands is either freshwater, brackish or saltwater. Samut Songkhram Province
Samut Songkhram (, ) is one of the central Provinces of Thailand, provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand. Neighbouring provinces are (from the south clockwise) Phetchaburi province, Phetchaburi, Ratchaburi province, Ratchaburi and Samut Sakhon province, Samut Sakhon. Local people call Samut Songkhram Mae Klong. The province is the smallest in area of all Thai provinces. Chang and Eng Bunker, the famous Siamese twins were born here on 11 May 1811. Toponymy The word "samut" originates from the Sanskrit word समुद्र ''samudra'' meaning 'ocean', and the word "songkhram" from Sanskrit संग्राम ''saṃgrāma'' meaning 'war'. Trang Province
Trang (, ; ), also called ''Mueang Thap Thiang'', is one of the southern Provinces of Thailand, provinces (''changwat'') of Thailand, on the west side of the Malay Peninsula facing the Strait of Malacca. Trang River
The Trang River () is one of main rivers of Trang Province apart from Palian River. The Trang River has two origins, the first one is in Khao Luang, a summit of Nakhon Si Thammarat Range, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The second one is in Krabi Province, both courses southward and confluence at Banthat Range in Phatthalung Province before flowing into Trang Province. Hat Chao Mai Marine National Park
Hat Chao Mai National Park is a protected area located in the Sikao and Kantang Districts of Trang Province, Thailand. It is a marine national park. Established in 1981, it is an IUCN Category II protected area with coral reefs, and an area measuring 144,292 rai ~ . The park has been designated as a Ramsar site since 2002. Princess Sirindhorn Wildlife Sanctuary
Princess Sirindhorn Wildlife Sanctuary (), or popularly known as Pa Phru To Daeng (ป่าพรุโต๊ะแดง), or just called Phru To Daeng (พรุโต๊ะแดง) is a largest and most fertile peat swamp forest in Thailand covering an area of 125,625 rais, about in Mueang Narathiwat, Tak Bai, Su-ngai Kolok, and Su-ngai Padi districts of Narathiwat province in southern Thailand. It is about 6 km (3 mi) from Su-ngai Kolok railway station. It is named after Khlong To Daeng, one of three main watercourses flowing through the forest. "To Daeng" is a name of one old magician Muslim woman in folklore, who disappeared in the forest and was said to have finally transformed into a crocodile. Nong Bong Kai Non-hunting Area
Chiang Saen Lake () is a natural freshwater lake in Thailand, it is located in Yonok Subdistrict, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai Province, northernmost Thailand. According to the folklore, the legend of Singhanavati (ตำนานสิงหนวัติ), it used to be an ancient kingdom known as Singhanavati or Yonok. The kingdom was destroyed by a sudden flood from earthquake in one night. Submerged the entire town in a what is known today as "Wiang Nong Lom" (เวียงหนองหล่ม, "drowned town") an archaeological swamp south of the lake. This lake has a total area of 2,711 rais (1,071 acres).
