Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. The game is fast and high-scoring: professional teams now typically score between 20 and 35 goals each, though lower scores were not uncommon until a few decades ago. Dean Ožbolt
Dean Ožbolt (December 13, 1967 – May 28, 2003) was a Croatian handball player. Career Before discovering handball Ožbolt played water polo in his youth. His first coach was Romano Rubinić with whom he won the Croatian Handball Championship U-16 in 1983. After playing for one season for Kozala, Ožbolt was invited to play for RK Zamet for which he played for 15 years. In Zamet, Ožbolt helped the club reach the Yugoslav First League in 1987, and reach second place in Croatian First A League which also gave Zamet their first match in a European competition and reach their first final in the Croatian Cup. He also captained his side from 1992 to 1996. In 1991 he got called up to play for Croatia to play at a tournament in the United States where Croatia won first place. Drago Žiljak
Drago Žiljak (born 14 January 1960 in Rijeka) is a former Croatian handball player and coach. He is currently the head coach of women's side ŽRK Zamet. Playing career Žiljak started playing handball in 1974 when he was picked by coach Vjekoslav Sardelić to play for the U-14 team of RK Zamet at the Croatian U-14 Championship. Zamet won the championship. He opted to play for then First League side RK Kvarner. In 1976 Žiljak started playing for the senior team who were relegated the season before to the Yugoslav Second League - North. He played at Kvarner for five seasons being in top positions in the Second League but failing to reach first place and gain promotion. From 1975 to 1978 Žiljak was often selected to play for the youth selection of SR Croatia. In 1979 he played for the U-21 squad of Yugoslavia at the Balkanijada tournament in Varaždin. Boris Komucki
Boris Komuczki (born 28 December 1956 in Rijeka) is a former Croatian handball player and coach. Playing career Komucki started playing handball at a young age in primary school in Trsat. He soon moved to RK Kvarner where he started his handball career. He was supposed to play for the Yugoslav national team at the 1978 World Championship but couldn't due to mandatory military service. In 1979 after being stripped the captain's arm band he moved to city rivals RK Zamet. With Zamet Komucki demolished his former club, won the city rivalry to the extent that Kvarner admitted defeat in writing. In 1981 Komucki spent a season in Belgrade playing for RK Crvena Zvezda and a season in Banja Luka with Borac. Komucki had one more spell at RK Zamet where they almost entered the Yugoslav First League being one point short from Jugović Kać. Roberto Sošić is a Croatian former handball player. Sošić was born in Rovinj, Istria (now Croatia, at the time Yugoslavia). He joined RK Zamet, based in Rijeka, in the early part of his career. Damir Čavlović
Damir Čavlović (born 28 January 1952) is a former Croatian handball player. He has coached clubs such as RK Zamet, RK Split Brodokumer, ŽRK Zamet, ŽRK Tvin Trgocentar and RK Kvarner Kostrena. In 1996 he was also coach of the Croatia men's national handball team. Čavlović last coached RK Zamet in senior competition during the 2009-10 season. Since then he has coached various youth selection in Zamet and Trsat. Career Playing career Čavlović started his playing career in his hometown club RK Dubovac. After two seasons in Dubovac he was called up by Vlado Stenzel to come play for RK Kvarner in Rijeka.
