Pakistanis (, ) are the citizens and nationals of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Pakistan is the fifth-most populous country, with a population of over 241.5 million, having the second-largest Muslim population as of 2023. As much as 85-90% of the population follows Sunni Islam. A majority of around 97% of Pakistanis are Muslims. The majority of Pakistanis natively speak languages belonging to the Indo-Iranic family ( Indo-Aryan and Iranic subfamilies). Saadia Gardezi
Saadia Gardezi is a Pakistani peace activist, artist and journalist. She co-founded Project Dastaan. Early life and education Gardezi grew up in Lahore, Pakistan. She completed an M.Phil. degree from University of Oxford as a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholar. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in international relations at the University of Warwick. Career Gardezi co-founded Project Dastaan with Sparsh Ahuja and Sam Dalrymple. The project is a peace initiative that reunites refugees displaced by the Partition of India of 1947 with their ancestral homes. Hasnat Mehmood () is a Pakistani visual artist who lives and works in New Jersey. He was born on 3 March 1978 in Jhelum. Art career Hasnat Mehmood was trained as a traditional miniature painter at the National College of Arts, but in his search for a new language in this medium he transformed the traditional practice into contemporary dialogue. He is recognised as a progressive, radical artist. Hasnat Mehmood creates contemporary art employing a technique that is considered to be a traditional practice. The painting of miniature works of art is considered to be the cultural heritage of Pakistan; as such, it should remain recognizable as it was practiced in the past. Muniba Mazari Baloch ( Baloch: منیبہ مزاری; born 3 March 1987) is a Pakistani activist, anchor, artist, model, singer and motivational speaker. She became the National Ambassador UN Women Pakistan by BBC in 2015. She also made it to the Forbes 30 under 30 list for 2016. Personal life Muniba Mazari Baloch belongs to the Baloch Mazari tribe. Anwar Maqsood Hameedi (born 7 September 1939; ), popularly known as Anwar Maqsood, is a Pakistani scriptwriter, television presenter, satirist, humorist, and infrequent actor. He is well known for his drama write-ups for PTV in the late 1970s and 1980s. Early life and family Anwar Maqsood was born on 7 September 1939 in Hyderabad State. Zehra Laila Javeri (; born on 15 October 1971) is a Pakistani artist. She currently resides in Karachi, Pakistan. Javeri's first solo exhibition, titled 'Weeds', opened at Canvas Gallery, Karachi in January 2014. Javeri was greatly influenced by her aunt, artist Laila Shahzada. Javeri's second non-solo show, titled 'Pakistan Art Today', was held in the Lalit Hotel in Delhi, India.
