The Odia film industry, colloquially known as Ollywood, is the Odia language Indian film industry, based in Bhubaneshwar and Cuttack in Odisha, India. The name Ollywood is a portmanteau of the words Odia and Hollywood. Industry In 1974, the Government of Odisha declared film making and construction of cinema theatres as an industry in the state, and in 1976 it established the Odisha Film Development Corporation in Cuttack. History Odisha has a history of filmmaking, starting from 1936. The first Odia film is '' Sita Bibaha'', made by Mohan Sundar Deb Goswami in 1936. Drawn from the Indian epic ''Ramayana'', the story is about the marriage of Sita and Ram. The film plot was made from a drama written by Kamapala Mishra. Prepared with a budget of only Rs 30,000, the film has 14 song sequences. ''Manasi'' is a 1981 romantic comedy Oriya film directed by Malay Mitra. Plot Akash (Sriram Panda) is the son of industrialist Surendra Das and looks after his father's business. He and Prashant ( Swarup Naik), who is an engineer by profession are close friends. One day Akash's family visit Seema's ( Saudamini Misra) family at a function held by Seema's father. Seema mistaken Akash as a driver and Prashant as Akash. Seema's friend Surekha falls in love with Prashant alias Akash. Evantually Seema falls in love with Akash alias the driver. Byomkesh Bakshi is an Indian-Bengali fictional detective created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. Referring to himself as a "truth-seeker" or Satyanweshi in the stories, Bakshi is known for his proficiency with observation, logical reasoning, and forensic science which he uses to solve complicated cases, usually murders, occurring in Calcutta. One of the most popular sleuths of Bengali literature, Byomkesh Bakshi appeared for the first time in the story "Satyanweshi" — a story of murder dealing with illegal trafficking of opium.
