Gundersen Hall is a building located on the main campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma Stillwater ( iow, Ñápinⁿje, ''meaning: "Water quiet"'') is a city in, and the county seat of, Payne County, Oklahoma, United States. It is located in north-central Oklahoma at the intersection of U.S. Route 177 and State Highway 51. As of t .... Construction on the facility began in the fall of 1911, after funds for the building were allocated by legislators. The old boiler house and shop buildings that existed at the site were torn down to make space for the new building. The new building was completed in November 1912, with rooms for laboratories, offices, drafting rooms, and classrooms. Originally designed for engineering students, the building now holds faculty offices, computer labs, and is the home of Online Learning for the Spears School of Business. Morrill Hall (Oklahoma State University)
Morrill Hall has been the home of various academic departments at Oklahoma State University–Stillwater. Constructed in 1906, it originally housed the agricultural college, administrative offices and the experiment station. In 1914, it was devastated by fire, but was reconstructed in 1915. Today, it houses the OSU English Department. History In 1902, Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College (OAMC) President Angelo C. Scott, who served from 1899 – 1908, proposed the construction of a main building that would house departments in agriculture, administration, and the experiment station. At the time, political maneuvers to keep the capital in Guthrie prohibited any funds from being used for construction of new buildings at a public institution. Boone Pickens Stadium (previously known as Lewis Field) has been home to the Oklahoma State University Cowboys football team in rudimentary form since 1919, and as a complete stadium since 1920. Aligned in an east-west direction since 1920, the field is the oldest in the Big 12 Conference. With the resurgence of Cowboy football, sparked by the 2001 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Bedlam Series game and the subsequent 2002 Houston Bowl season, interest grew for a major overhaul of Lewis Field. An ambitious fund-raising project for the renovation dubbed "The Next Level" became the flagship effort of the Oklahoma State athletic department. The stadium has a capacity of 55,509. Gallagher-Iba Arena, also once known as ''"The Rowdiest Arena in the Country"'' and ''"The Madison Square Garden of the Plains”'', is the basketball and wrestling venue at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States. Originally completed in 1938 and named the 4-H Club and Student Activities Building, it was soon renamed Gallagher Hall to honor wrestling coach Ed Gallagher. After renovations in 1987, the name became Gallagher-Iba Arena, as a tribute to longtime basketball coach and innovator Henry Iba. National Wrestling Hall Of Fame And Museum
The National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum is a museum and hall of fame for amateur wrestling, headquartered in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 2010, it began operating the Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, Iowa. History The museum was awarded to Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1972 by a decision of the United States Wrestling Federation, which chose Stillwater over a competing bid from Waterloo, Iowa. The museum opened on September 11, 1976. In 2010, the National Wrestling Hall of Fame absorbed the Dan Gable Museum in Waterloo, previously operated by the Dan Gable International Wrestling Institute and Museum. The Dan Gable Museum had opened in 1998 in Newton, Iowa, and moved to Waterloo in 2006. Bennett Memorial Chapel
The Bennett Memorial Chapel is a building on the campus of Oklahoma State University located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The interdenominational chapel serves as a memorial to honor students from Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University), who were killed during World War I and World War II and to honor Henry G. Bennett, president of Oklahoma A&M College, and his wife Vera, who died in a plane crash in Iran in 1951. History The idea of a campus chapel began in 1944 when members of Oklahoma A&M College's (OAMC) Blue Key fraternity wanted to build a chapel to memorialize OAMC students who died during World War II. Fundraising, with a goal of $200,000, began, but was stopped by an influenza outbreak on the campus. Old Central
Old Central, historically known as the College Building, is the oldest building on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Originally built in 1894, it was the first permanent building on the Oklahoma A&M campus. Old Central's bell clapper once served as a traveling trophy in the Bedlam Series athletics rivalry between Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma. The new "Bedlam Bell" is a crystal trophy modeled after Old Central's bell and is awarded to the winner of each individual athletics contest in addition to the overall series winner for each year.
