The Nevada Legislature is a bicameral body, consisting of the lower house, the Assembly, with 42 members, and the upper house, the Senate, with 21. With a total of 63 seats, the Legislature is the third-smallest bicameral state legislature in the United States, after Alaska's (60 members) and Delaware's (62). The Nevada State Legislature is the first majority female State Legislature in the history of the United States. As of 2022, the Democratic Party controls both houses of the Nevada State Legislature. In the 2022 Nevada elections, which were apart of the midterm elections for that year, the Democratic Party obtained a supermajority in the lower house of the state legislature. 2024 Nevada Senate Election
The 2024 Nevada Senate election was held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Voters in 10 districts of the Nevada Senate elected their senators. The elections coincided with elections for other offices, including for U.S. President, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and the State Assembly. Republicans needed to gain three seats to win control of the chamber. The primary elections were held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Nevada State Capitol
The Nevada State Capitol is the capitol building of the U.S. state of Nevada located in the state capital of Carson City at 101 North Carson Street. The building was constructed in the Neoclassical Italianate style between 1869 and 1871. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is also Nevada Historical Marker number 25. Construction Abraham Curry, the founder of Carson City, reserved an area equivalent to four city blocks (10 acres or 4.04 ha) at the center of the town for the future state capitol. This is a list of elections in the U.S. state of Nevada. Nevada is a swing state in state and federal elections, with margins that typically are under five percent. Unique to the state is the "None of These Candidates" voting option for all statewide and presidential and vice-presidential election ballots. This option is listed along with the names of individuals running for the position and is often described as "none of the above". The option first appeared on the Nevada ballot in 1975. If the "None of These Candidates" option receives the most votes in an election, then the actual candidate who receives the most votes still wins the election.
