''Neighbours'' is a long-running Australian television soap opera first broadcast on the Seven Network on 18 March 1985. It was created by TV executive Reg Watson, who proposed the idea of making a show that focused on realistic stories and portrayed adults and teenagers who talk openly and solve their problems together. The series primarily centres on the residents of Ramsay Street, a short cul-de-sac in the equally fictitious suburb of Erinsborough. ''Neighbours'' began with three households, including the Ramsay and Robinson families. When storylines for certain characters become tired, the scriptwriters simply move one family out and replace it with a new one. ''Neighbours'' is an Australian television soap opera that has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap '' Sons and Daughters''. Although successful in Melbourne, ''Neighbours'' underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. ''Neighbours'' became the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame. 10 Peach Comedy (set to rebrand as 10 Comedy in 2025) is an Australian free-to-air television channel operated by Network 10. It was launched on 11 January 2011 as Eleven. Elizabeth Tanner (born 1970) is an Australian stage and television actress best known for her roles as Bronwyn Craig in the television series '' All Saints'' and as Bridget Westfall in '' Wentworth''. Melissa Bell (born 7 November 1972) is an Australian actress and fashion designer. Ryan Moloney (born 24 November 1979) is an Australian actor, known for his portrayal of the fictional character Jarrod "Toadfish" Rebecchi in the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'' from 1995 until his departure in 2025. Jarrod Vincenzo Rebecchi, commonly known as "Toadfish" or "Toadie", is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Ryan Moloney. He made his first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 23 January 1995. Toadie was created by writer Elizabeth Packett.
