The visual arts are art forms such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics (art), ceramics, photography, video, image, filmmaking, design, crafts, and architecture. Many artistic disciplines such as performing arts, conceptual art, and textile arts, also involve aspects of the visual arts, as well as arts of other types. Within the visual arts, the applied arts, such as industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design, and decorative art are also included. Fahmi Reza
Mohd Fahmi Reza bin Mohd Zarin (; born 7 June 1977) is a Malaysian political graphic designer, street artist and documentary filmmaker. He is best known for depicting Malaysia's sixth Prime Minister, Najib Razak, as a clown. He is also known for portraying Malaysian politicians, whom most of them are accused to corruption charges in a satirical way and has seen been arrested multiple times since the clown portrayal of Najib. On December 31, 2024, he has been detained and jailed under MCMC Multimedia Act, in the State of Sabah due to his controversial painting on 11th Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, ''Tun Musa Aman''. Sonny Liew
Sonny Liew (born 26 September 1974) is a Malaysia-born comic artist/illustrator based in Singapore. He is best known for '' The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye'' (2015), the first graphic novel to win the Singapore Literature Prize for fiction. Early life and education Born in Seremban, Malaysia, Liew attended school at Victoria School and Victoria Junior College in Singapore. He went on to read philosophy at Clare College, Cambridge, in the UK and studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2001. Shing Yin Khor
Shing Yin Khor is a Malaysian-American artist and cartoonist. They are the creator of the comics ''The American Dream? A Journey on Route 66'', ''The Center for Otherworld Science'' and ''Say it with Noodles'', the last of which won them an Ignatz Award. Khor's middle grade graphic novel, ''The Legend of Auntie Po,'' earned an Eisner Award and was a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award for Young People's Literature. Biography Khor is Malaysian Chinese, grew up in the Philippines, and moved to the United States at age 16. They are now a naturalized citizen of the United States. Rejabhad
Rejabhad, or Rejab bin Had, (23 August 1939 - 14 November 2002), was a Malaysian cartoonist, whose career started in the 1950s. History His hometown was in Permatang Pauh, Penang. Rejabhad knew famous Malaysian cartoonist, Rashidin, who taught him about drawing comics. He joined the Malaysian Army after he left school three months after his debut comic was published in ''Gelanggang Filem'' magazine. He was dubbed as Raja Kartun Malaysia (King of Malaysian Cartoon). He became a full-time cartoonist for Gila-Gila magazine published by Creative Enterprise after he retired from the armed services. He mentored for Malaysian cartoonists from the 1950s to 2000. Redza Piyadasa
Redza Piyadasa (1939 – May 7, 2007) was a Malaysian artist, art critic and art historian. Biography Piyadasa was born in 1939 in Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, in a family of Sinhalese origin. Initially he followed a study at the Malaysia Teacher's College in Brinsford Lodge to become a teacher. Afterwards, he followed an art study at the Hornsey College of Art in Crouch End, London, on the basis of a scholarship of the Malaysian government. Here he obtained his degree in 1967. Mohamed Zain Idris
Biography Mohamed Zain Idris, commonly known as M. Zain (1939–2000) was born in Terengganu, Malaysia. He was a self-taught painter known for his work in watercolor and Oil Painting, oil. M. Zain painted primarily in watercolor and oil. His subjects often depicted bucolic rural landscapes and the people who lived and worked among them. Boats and fishing were a central theme in his work and he earned the nickname 'The Fisherman Artist' from a poem titled 'Fisherman Art-ist' by the American art critic and gallerist Frank Sullivan. He was appointed the rare title of 'State Artist' by the Terengganu Menteri Besar and was given his own studio and residence including a stipend. Leon Lim (born in Kedah, Malaysia) is an artist, designer and photographer who was schooled in Kedah and Penang and lives in New York City. He has been profoundly deaf since birth and his deafness developed his strong sense of seeing. His independence began at the age of 14 when he started to live alone in Penang. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York. Winner of the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2002, Lat has published more than 20 volumes of cartoons since he was 13 years old. Kopi Soh
Kopi Soh is the pseudonym of a Malaysian author and illustrator best known for her book ''Oh, I Thought I Was The Only One''. She founded the Facebook community "Stick It To Me," a page centered around producing "healing art" for the sick and needy, and organizes a group of volunteers to produce art for hospitals and charities. Her work with "Stick It To Me" was recognized in the Digi WWWOW Awards 2015, winning an award in the Social Gathering category.
