Italian Canadians
Italian Canadians ( it, italo-canadesi, french: italo-canadiens) comprise Canadians who have full or partial Italian heritage and Italians who migrated from Italy or reside in Canada. According to the 2021 Census of Canada, 1,546,390 Canadians (4.3% of the total population) claimed full or partial Italian ancestry. They comprise a subgroup of Southern European Canadians which is a further subgroup of European Canadians. The census enumerates the entire Canadian population, which consists of Canadian citizens (by birth and by naturalization), landed immigrants and non-permanent residents and their families living with them in Canada. Residing mainly in central urban industrial metropolitan areas, Italian Canadians are the seventh largest self-identified ethnic group in Canada behind French, English, Irish, Scottish, German and Chinese Canadians. Andrew Agozzino
Andrew Agozzino (born January 3, 1991) is a Canadian professional ice hockey left wing currently playing for the San Jose Barracuda in the American Hockey League (AHL) while under contract to the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Junior Agozzino first played major junior hockey with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League. He was originally selected as the Mississauga IceDogs first round draft pick, chosen 15th overall in the 2007 OHL Priority Draft before the team promptly relocated to Niagara. Agozzino scored 12 goals in 50 games during his rookie campaign in 2007–08 and as an Ontario Native, he was selected to the Canada Ontario team for the 2008 World U-17 Hockey Challenge scoring 5 goals in 6 games to help capture the Gold. Tom Anselmi (born ) is a Canadian sports executive. He is currently employed by the OEG (Oilers Entertainment Group) serving as the President of Business Operations and Chief Operating Officer. He had previously served as a Business Manager with the Ottawa Senators and as the President and Chief operating officer for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment from 2011 to 2013. Sandy Annunziata
Sandy Annunziata (born October 11, 1969) is a former offensive guard and Centre in the Canadian Football League. Football career Annunziata played four years at The University of Western Ontario (1989–1992), and was a member of their Vanier Cup winning team. He was also named to OUAA 1st team all-star selection in 1992. Sandy won two Grey Cups with the Toronto Argonauts in 2004 and the Edmonton Eskimos in 2005 during 11-year career in CFL. Lou Angotti
Louis Frederick Angotti (January 16, 1938 – September 15, 2021) was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach who played ten seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for the New York Rangers, Chicago Black Hawks, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and St. Louis Blues from 1964 to 1974. Early life Angotti was born in Toronto on January 16, 1938. He played his junior hockey for the Toronto St. Michael's Majors. He then enrolled in Michigan Tech University where he earned an engineering degree while skating for powerful college clubs. He appeared in two NCAA championship games, losing the 1960 game while winning in 1962. He was MVP of both tournaments and was All- WCHA First Team for 1961–62. Enza Anderson
Enza Anderson (born 1964) is a Canadian journalist, media personality, Ontario politician, and transgender rights activist. Early life and education Anderson was born in Toronto, Ontario. Assigned male at birth, she grew up in Toronto, living near Jane and Finch with an Italian-Catholic father. She initially attended York University to study geography but left due to a combination of lack of interest in the subject and her mother becoming sick. After a one-year hiatus, she attended Seneca College where she studied civil engineering and technologies. Domenic Amodeo
Domenic Amodeo (born March 6, 1968, in Toronto, Canada) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played in the minor leagues and throughout Europe. Career Amodeo began his collegiate career in 1988 with the New Hampshire Wildcats. During his time in the Hockey East he was a prolific scorer, registering 167 points in 142 games over the four years he was with the program. In his senior year, Amodeo was named as both a Second Team All-American and a member of the Hockey East All-Tournament Team. Upon graduating, Amodeo signed a professional contract with the Canadian National Team, who, at the time, played exhibition games across North America. The following season, Amodeo signed with the NHL's Boston Bruins, who assigned him to their AHL affiliate team, the Providence Bruins. Stella Ambler (born September 29, 1966) is a Canadian politician who served as the Member of Parliament for the federal electoral district of Mississauga South from 2011 to 2015. She is a member of the Conservative Party. Background Ambler's parents are Italian immigrants who met and married in Canada, settling in Etobicoke then moving to Brampton. She obtained a degree in psychology from the University of Toronto. Ambler married her husband, Richard Ambler, in 1992. Pietro Amato
Pietro Amato is a French horn player with the rock bands Torngat, Bell Orchestre, and The Luyas. He has also performed with Arcade Fire. Career In 2001, Amato, along with keyboardist Mathieu Charbonneau and percussionist Julien Poissant, formed Torngat, his longest standing musical project. The band self-released music for several years before signing with the Alien8 label. Michael Amadio
Michael Amadio (born May 13, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). Amadio was selected by the Los Angeles Kings, 90th overall, in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Major junior Amadio was a prolific scorer playing in Northern Ontario's bantam and midget levels, before he was selected by the Brampton Battalion, 36th overall in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.
