List Of Islamic Seminaries
This is a list of Islamic seminaries throughout history, including the operational, historical, defunct or converted ones. This list includes mainly madrasa in the Western context, which refers to the specific type of religious school or college for the study of the Islamic religion and Islamic educations, though this may not be the only subject studied. It also includes sectarian or regional variants which have distinct characteristics and traditions, though serves the identical purposes as seminary, namely Hawza of Shi'a, Shi'a Islam, Nezamiyeh in the medieval Persia, Darul Uloom which has roots in South Asia, Qawmi madrasa, Qawmi in Bangladesh, pesantren in Indonesia, and pondok in Malaysia and Southern Thailand. Darul Uloom Deoband
Darul Uloom Deoband is an Islamic university and seminary ( darul uloom) in Deoband, Uttar Pradesh, India, at which the Sunni Deobandi Islamic movement began. Established in 1866 by Muhammad Qasim Nanautavi, Fazlur Rahman Usmani, Sayyid Muhammad Abid and others in 1866, it is one of the most important Islamic seminaries in India and the largest in the world. Mahmud Deobandi was the first teacher and Mahmud Hasan Deobandi was the first student. On 14 October 2020, the executive council of the seminary appointed Arshad Madani as the principal (''sadr-mudarris'') and Abul Qasim Nomani as the senior hadith professor (''shaykh al-hadith''). Jamia Tawakkulia Renga Madrasah
Jamia Tawakkulia Renga (), or simply Renga Madrasah (), is a madrasah located in the village of Renga, near Mogla Bazar, in South Surma Upazila, about south of Sylhet, Bangladesh, along the Sylhet to Moulvibazar Highway. History The madrasa was founded in 1919 by Maulana Shah Arkan Ali. It then came under the leadership of his son, Maulana Badrul Alam Shaykh-e-Renga, who was a mufassir and ''khalifa'' of Hussain Ahmad Madani, with Maulana Sikandar Ali serving as vice-principal. Allama Qamaruddin was appointed as the madrasa's first Shaykhul Hadith and he served for two years. The second Shaykhul Hadith was Allama Shihabuddin, a ''khalifa'' of Abdul Karim Kouria, who served for 47 years. The third principal of the madrasa was Maulana Shamsul Islam Khalil ibn Shaykh-e-Renga who served from 1977 to 2012. Al-Jāmiʿah al-Qurʼāniyyah al-ʿArabiyyah Lālbāgh (), better known simply as Lalbagh Madrasah (), is a Qawmi madrasa providing higher Islamic studies in Dhaka, Bangladesh It has seven education sections from kindergarten to post-graduate levels. History This institute was founded by a group of Islamic scholars led by Zafar Ahmad Usmani, Shamsul Haque Faridpuri, Deen Muhammad Khan and Hafezzi Huzur. They planned for the establishment of this seminary around the historic Lalbagh Fort in Shawwal 1370 H (1950 CE). Hafezzi Huzur was the first person who started the class of memorizing the Quran ( hifz) amid a lot of difficulties and problems.
