The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) is an endurance racing (motorsport), endurance auto racing series administered by the governing body of motorsport, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), and co-organised and promoted by the automotive group, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). There were two types of car called Le Mans Prototype (LMP) and LM GTE, Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance (LMGTE) divided into four classes when the WEC began in 2012: Le Mans Prototype 1 (LMP1), Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2), Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Pro (LMGTE Pro) and Le Mans Grand Touring Endurance Am (LMGTE Am). 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship
The 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship was the twelfth season of the FIA World Endurance Championship, an auto racing series organised by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). The series was open to Hypercars (built under Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) or Le Mans Daytona h (LMDh) regulations) and, for the first time, LMGT3 racing cars. This was the first season of the World Endurance Championship without the LMP2 class, after it was dropped due to the increasing demand in the Hypercar and LMGT3 classes. The LMP2 class will still take part at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The LMGT3 class was introduced to replace the GTE class that was dropped at the end of the 2023 season. A maximum amount of 37 cars was set for the full-season grid. James John Calado (born 13 June 1989) is a British professional racing driver from England who is competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Ferrari - AF Corse in the Hypercar class and other selected GT races for AF Corse. He won the LMGTE Pro class of the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship and 2019 24 Hours of Le Mans, and overall victory in the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans. Signatech, currently competing as the Alpine Endurance Team, is a French auto racing team and racing car constructor that competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Nicolas Camile Bernard Lapierre (born 2 April 1984) is a retired French professional racing driver and team principal.
