Eurostat calculates the GDP based on the information provided by national statistics institutes affiliated to Eurostat. The list presents statistics for 2023 from Eurostat, . The European Union created a Committee of the Regions to represent Regions of Europe as the layer of EU government administration directly below the nation-state level. The committee has its headquarters in Brussels. Reasons given for this include: * the historic and cultural claims for autonomy in many regions all over the EU * strengthening the political and economic situation in those regions Some nation states which have historically had a strong centralized administration have transferred political power to the regions. Uusimaa (; , ; both lit. 'new land') is a region of Finland. It borders the regions of Southwest Finland, Tavastia Proper (Kanta-Häme), Päijänne Tavastia (Päijät-Häme), and Kymenlaakso. The Central Denmark Region (), or more directly translated as the Central Jutland Region and sometimes simply Mid-Jutland, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform.
