The following is a list of characters that first appeared in the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'' in 2000, by order of first appearance. All characters were introduced by Matthew Robinson, or his successor, John Yorke. The first character to be introduced was Sandra di Marco ( Clare Wilkie), the estranged wife of Beppe di Marco ( Michael Greco). Laura Beale (Hannah Waterman), a love interest for Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was introduced in February, whereas Rod Morris (Forbes Masson), the tutor of Nicky di Marco (Carly Hillman) was introduced for a guest stint. Fiona Morris (Ashley Jensen), Rod's wife, appeared in June. Barbara Owen (Sheila Hancock), Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) and Jackie Owen's (Race Davies) mother made her first appearance in July, and Jack Robbins ( Chook Sibtain), Sandra's former lover, debuted in August. Ashley Jensen (born 11 August 1969) is a Scottish actress and narrator. Mo Harris
Mo Harris (also Porter, also known as Big Mo), is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', who made her first appearance on 18 September 2000, played by Laila Morse. Mo was also played by Lorraine Stanley in the 2004 spin-off, ''Pat and Mo'', delving into her past with Pat Butcher (Pam St Clement/Emma Cooke). Derek Martin (born Derek William Rapp; 11 April 1933) is a retired English actor. Beginning his career as a stuntman, he moved into acting and played many roles on UK television. One of his most widely known roles is Charlie Slater on the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'' from 2000 to 2011, with brief appearances in 2013 and 2016. Charlie Slater is a fictional character from the BBC soap opera ''EastEnders'', played by Derek Martin. Charlie's first appearance is in the episode first broadcast in the United Kingdom on 4 September 2000.
