List Of Dutch Atheists
This is an alphabetical list of Dutch people who have been identified as atheists. The people on this list have either declared themselves as or confirmed themselves to be atheist; and/or have been identified as atheists by a reliable source; and/or whose most recently recorded attitude toward the existence of God or gods is of disbelief. While definitions of atheism vary, a typical atheist is someone who has made a conscious decision that they do not believe in the existence of any form of deity. It is a widespread misconception, however, that all atheists deny the existence of a god or gods. While a minority of them certainly do, most atheists would strongly disagree with this definition: they don't entirely reject the concept "God", but would rather argue that the term ''God'' has no importance, and possibly no meaning to them. Atheism
Atheism, in the broadest sense, is an absence of belief in the existence of deities. Less broadly, atheism is a rejection of the belief that any deities exist. In an even narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there no deities. Atheism is contrasted with theism, which in its most general form is the belief that at least one deity exists. The first individuals to identify themselves as atheists lived in the 18th century during the Age of Enlightenment. The Weekly Standard
''The Weekly Standard'' was an American neoconservative political magazine of news, analysis and commentary, published 48 times per year. Originally edited by founders Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes, the ''Standard'' had been described as a "redoubt of neoconservatism" and as "the neocon bible." Its founding publisher, News Corporation, debuted the title on September 18, 1995. In 2009, News Corporation sold the magazine to a subsidiary of the Anschutz Corporation. On December 14, 2018, its owners announced that the magazine was ceasing publication, with the last issue published on December 17. Sources attribute its demise to an increasing divergence between Kristol and other editors' shift towards anti-Trump positions, and the magazine's audience's shift towards Trumpism. Arjan Ederveen
Arjan Ederveen Janssen (born 9 September 1956) is a Dutch actor, comedian, TV scriptwriter and TV director. He participated in the TV series ''Theo en Thea'', '' Kreatief met Kurk'' and ''30 minuten'' and played in the musicals '' Hairspray'' and ''Lang en Gelukkig''. He wrote the play ''Moord in de Kerststal''. Ederveen owns a TV production company, called ''De Toko''. His manager is Evelien Jansen. Career Ederveen studied at the Academie voor Kleinkunst and graduated in 1981. Between 1981 and 1984 he starred as half of the comedic duo ''De Duos'', which he formed together with Kees Prins. Multatuli
Eduard Douwes Dekker (2 March 182019 February 1887), better known by his pen name Multatuli (from Latin ''multa tulī'', "I have suffered much"), was a Dutch writer best known for his satirical novel '' Max Havelaar'' (1860), which denounced the abuses of colonialism in the Dutch East Indies (today's Indonesia). He is considered one of the Netherlands' greatest authors. Paul Cliteur
Paul Bernard Cliteur (born 6 September 1955) is a Dutch professor of jurisprudence at Leiden University, as well as a politician, philosopher, writer, publicist and columnist. He is known for his conservative perspective, his atheism, his republicanism, and his dislike of Islam. He is a member of De Vrije Gedachte. Since 2015, Cliteur is a member of the Dutch political party Forum voor Democratie, where he is chairman of the advisory board and the party's official think tank. Hafid Bouazza
Hafid Bouazza ( ar, حفيظ بوعزة, ḥafīẓ būʿazza; 8 March 1970 – 29 April 2021) was a Moroccan-Dutch writer. Born in Oujda, Morocco, Bouazza came to the Netherlands in October 1977 as a seven-year-old boy. He lived with his parents in the village Arkel, near Gorinchem, until he went to study Arabic language and literature at the University of Amsterdam. He received the E. du Perron prize for his 1996 debut ''De voeten van Abdullah (The feet of Abdullah)''.
