Jaap Bakema
Jacob Berend "Jaap" Bakema (8 March 1914 – 20 February 1981) was a Dutch modernist architect. He is notable for design of public housing and involvement in the reconstruction of Rotterdam after the Second World War, and especially his work with Jo van den Broek. The firm was renamed Van den Broek en Bakema in 1951. Bakema is also noted for his impact on the direction of modernist architecture. Johan Marius Nicolaas Heesters (5 December 1903 – 24 December 2011), known professionally as Johannes Heesters, was a Dutch-German actor of stage, television and film, as well as a vocalist of numerous recordings and performer on the concert stage with a career dating back to the 1920s. He worked as an actor until his death and is one of the oldest performing entertainers in history, performing shortly before his death at the age of 108. Heesters was almost exclusively active in the German-speaking world from the mid-1930s and became a film star in Nazi Germany, which later led to controversy in his native country. Rijk de Gooyer (17 December 1925 – 2 November 2011) was a Dutch Golden Calf-winning actor, writer, comedian and singer. From the 1950s until the early 1970s, he became well known in The Netherlands as part of a comic duo with John Kraaijkamp, Sr. In the United States best known for having small roles in films such as '' Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht'', '' Soldaat van Oranje'', '' A Time to Die'' and ''The Wilby Conspiracy''. Paul Augustin Driessen (born 30 March 1940) is a Dutch film director, animator and writer. Biography After studying graphic design and illustration at the Art Academy in Utrecht, Driessen began animating TV commercials in the Netherlands in the 1960s, although he had no training in that art at all. When George Dunning, in search for talent, found Driessen at the Cine Cartoon Centre in Hilversum, he hired him as an animator for his feature animation film '' Yellow Submarine'' (1968). He also helped Driessen to emigrate to Canada where he became a member of the National Film Board of Canada in 1972.
