George Herring
George W. Herring (June 18, 1933 - November 8, 1994) was a professional American football quarterback and punter in the American Football League (AFL). Herring played with the Denver Broncos in 1960 and 1961. Herring played college football at Jones County Junior College and then transferred to Mississippi Southern in Hattiesburg. Selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixteenth round (184th overall) of the 1956 NFL draft, Herring instead joined the United States Army. Following his discharge from the Army, he signed in Canada and threw eight touchdowns to 20 interceptions in two seasons with the B.C. Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders. The 1967 Denver Broncos season was the eighth season for the team in the American Football League (AFL). Led by first-year head coach and general manager Lou Saban, the Broncos posted a record of three wins and eleven losses, last in the AFL's Western division. Running back Floyd Little, a first round draft choice (sixth overall), was team captain in his rookie season. After an opening win at home, the Broncos lost nine straight games, then split the last four. Inter-league play between the AFL and NFL in the exhibition season began this year. Scotty Glacken
Edward Scott Glacken (July 28, 1944 – December 27, 2006) was an American football quarterback and coach. He played college football at Duke University. In 1963, Glacken threw for a school-record 12 touchdown passes. Glacken finished his Duke career with 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns, helping the Blue Devils to a 15–13–2 record during his final three years as a player. Glacken played two seasons with the Denver Broncos, leading them to a 1967 exhibition victory over the Detroit Lions, the first time an American Football League (AFL) club defeated a team from the rival National Football League (NFL). Glacken would begin a two-decade long coaching career in 1970, taking the head coaching position at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., helping to return the Hoyas to NCAA intercollegiate competition after a number of years as a club team. Donald Carl Breaux (born August 3, 1940) is an American former professional football player and coach. He played college football at McNeese State College and in the American Football League (AFL). He served two stints as an assistant coach under head coach Joe Gibbs with the Washington Redskins of the National Football League (NFL). Playing career Breaux attended McNeese State University and was a standout quarterback. Milton Eugene "Mickey" Slaughter (August 22, 1941 – April 8, 2023) was an American professional football player and college coach. He played quarterback for the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL) after playing college ball for the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Following his playing career, he was an assistant coach for Louisiana Tech. Slaughter was raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, and played quarterback for Coach Maxie Lambright at Bolton High School, where he graduated in 1959.
