This is a list of DJ Awards winners and nominees. The first DJ Awards ceremony was in 1998 and has run for 22 consecutive editions until 2019. There was a 4-year hiatus until the ceremony returned in 2024. The awards are known internationally as the Oscars of the electronic music and DJ community. DJ Awards
DJ Awards is a celebration of electronic music, and aims to recognise and honour Disc jockey, DJs and individuals who have influenced electronic dance music worldwide. Held annually in Ibiza at the end of the summer season, DJ Awards has retained the same ethos since its conception. The fundamental philosophy is not that of a competition, as we are dealing with an art form whose merits are purely subjective, and therefore who can say what is the best. Rather DJ Awards seeks to shine a light on key talents in the industry. DJ Awards was formed in 1998 by José Pascual and Lenny Ibizarre. The ceremony is held once a year at a well known venue in Ibiza. Since 2018 the event has been held at Heart Ibiza. Previous editions were held at the Pacha club in Ibiza, Spain. Sonique (musician)
Sonia Marina Clarke (born 21 June 1965), better known by her stage name Sonique, is an English singer, musician and DJ. She came to public attention as a member of dance band S'Express during the early 1990s, but achieved greater success as a solo artist in the early-to mid 2000s. During this period, she achieved UK top 20 hits with " It Feels So Good", "Sky", "I Put a Spell on You" and " Can't Make Up My Mind", and won the 2001 BRIT Award for British female solo artist. Music Sounds Better With You
"Music Sounds Better with You" is the only record by the French house trio Stardust, released on 20 July 1998. Stardust comprised the Daft Punk member Thomas Bangalter, the DJ Alan Braxe, and the vocalist Benjamin Diamond. Stardust formed for a performance at the Rex Club in Paris. They wrote "Music Sounds Better with You" using a guitar riff sampled from the 1981 Chaka Khan song "Fate". It was initially released on Bangalter's Roulé label, followed by a wider release on Virgin Records, with a music video directed by Michel Gondry. "Music Sounds Better with You" debuted at number two on the UK singles chart in August 1998 and stayed there for two weeks, becoming one of the UK's bestselling singles that year. Julius O'Riordan (born 26 October 1965), better known by his stage name Judge Jules, is a British dance music DJ, record producer and entertainment lawyer. He is known for his DJ activities, music production and long-running radio show which achieved global success. He was voted best DJ in the world by ''DJ Mag'' in 1995. Education O'Riordan was educated at Highgate Wood Secondary School, a state school in Highgate Wood in North London and at University College School, an independent school for boys in Hampstead (also in North London), followed by the London School of Economics (LSE), where he earned a degree in law. Danny Rampling
Daniel Rampling (born 15 July 1961), better known as Danny Rampling is an English house music DJ and is widely credited as one of the original founders of the UK's rave/club scene. His long career began in the early 1980s playing hip-hop, soul and funk around numerous bars and clubs in London. Rampling was the first winner of the No 1 DJ in the World Award by ''DJ Magazine'' in 1991 and is a three-time DJ Awards recipient. He has reportedly sold over 1 million compilation albums. Pete Tong
Peter Michael Tong (born 30 July 1960) is an English DJ who works for BBC Radio 1. He is the host of programmes such as '' Essential Mix'' and '' Essential Selection'' on the radio service, which can be heard through Internet radio streams, for his record label FFRR Records and for his own performances at nightclubs and music festivals. Tong has also worked as a record producer and is regarded as the "global ambassador for electronic music." The phrase "It's all gone Pete Tong", where the name is used as rhyming slang for "it's all gone wrong", was reputedly coined by Paul Oakenfold in late 1987 in an article about acid house called "Bermondsey Goes Balearic" for Terry Farley and Pete Heller's ''Boys Own'' fanzine. 4hero (sometimes referred to as 4 Hero or 4-Hero) are an electronic music group from Dollis Hill, London, comprising producers Mark "Marc Mac" Clair & Denis "Dego" McFarlane. 4hero are known for being pioneers of breakbeat hardcore, Jungle music, jungle/drum and bass, broken beat and nu jazz music. Propellerheads were an English electronic music duo, formed in 1995 in Bath by Will White and Alex Gifford. The Chemical Brothers are an English electronic music duo formed by Ed Simons and Tom Rowlands in Manchester in 1992.
