List Of Continental Football League Teams
The Continental Football League was an American football league that operated in North America from 1965 through 1969. The league was primarily formed by minor-league teams that had played in the United and Atlantic Coast football leagues. In February 1968, the ContFL merged with the Professional Football League of America (PFLA), in order to expand into the midwestern United States. In 1969, the league expanded into Texas by absorbing the Texas Football League, which also brought the first (and, to date, only) team from Mexico to play in a professional American football league, the Mexico Golden Aztecs. Continental Football League
The Continental Football League (COFL) was a professional American football Minor league football (gridiron), minor league that operated in North America from 1965 through 1969. It was established following the collapse of the original United Football League (1961–1964), United Football League, and hoped to become the major force in professional football outside the National Football League (NFL) and the American Football League (AFL). It owed its name, at least in part, to the Continental League, a proposed third Major League Baseball organization that influenced MLB significantly, although never played a game. Don Branby
Donald Jerome Branby (December 29, 1928 – March 8, 2010) was an American football player. Branby played college football at the end position for the Colorado Buffaloes football team. During the 1952 season, he recovered seven fumbles, had nine takeaways, and reportedly had "at least 20 tackles" against Oklahoma. At the end of the season, he was selected by the Associated Press as a first-team player on its 1952 College Football All-America Teams. He also played baseball and basketball at Colorado. After leaving Colorado, he spent four years in the United States Air Force and later became a football coach, holding positions with the Montana State Bobcats, the British Columbia Lions and the Ottawa Rough Riders. The Charleston Rockets were a professional American football team based in Charleston, West Virginia. They began play in 1964 as a member of the United Football League (1961–1964), United Football League, and became a charter franchise in the Continental Football League in 1965.
