Li Hua
Li Hua () March 6, 1907 − May 5, 1994), was a Chinese woodcut artist and communist known for his participation in left-wing activities, was born in Panyu, Guangdong. Career He graduated from the Municipal Guangzhou Art School in 1926 and remained there as a teacher. In 1930, Li went to Japan to study fine arts at in Tokyo. Li returned to Guangzhou in 1932, after the Mukden Incident broke out, and served once again as a teacher at the art school where he had studied. At that time, he began to learn woodcutting art. He was influenced by Lu Xun who regarded him as one of the most promising woodcut artists of his generation. In June 1934, Li founded the Modern Woodcut Society at the Guangzhou Art School with an initial membership of 27. He produced many woodcuts to protest against the invasion by the Japanese army and the decaying government that was led by Chiang Kai-shek. In 1935, Li produced the woodcut '' Roar, China!'' Yan Han (artist)
Yan Han (; July 12, 1916 – September 26, 2011) was a Chinese artist and teacher. Born in Donghai County, Jiangsu Province, Yan taught at North China University, and then at the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang; from 1949, he taught first at the China Art Academy, Hangzhou, and then, in 1950, at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Yan participated in the First Congress of the All-China Art Workers' Association, held in 1949. His official posts have included chairman of the Chinese Printmakers' Association and standing director of the Chinese Artists' Association. Yan Han began studying Chinese art and Western painting in 1935 at the National Art Academy, Hangzhou, then the center in China for teaching Western modernist styles. After war with Japan broke out, he went to Yan'an and, in 1938, entered the Lu Xun Academy of Literature and Arts to learn woodblock printing. Zhu Gui (printmaker)
Zhu Gui (朱圭, 1644–1717) was a Wood carving, wood carver from Qing dynasty, Qing Dynasty, born in Suzhou, Jiangsu. Zhu assisted Jin Guliang (金古良) in creating the Wu Shuang Pu (1694), a book with pictures of forty heroes. He also made the 46 paintings of "Tilling and Weaving" (1696), by order of the Kangxi Emperor. Furthermore he made the 146 pictures in the "Book of the ceremony of longevity" (1717), this original 1717 version of the longevity ceremony is stored in the Palace Museum in the Forbidden City in Beijing in China.
