List Of CCHA Best Offensive Defenseman
The CCHA Best Offensive Defenseman was an annual award given out at the conclusion of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) regular season to the best offensive defenseman in the conference as voted by the coaches of each CCHA team. The Best Offensive Defenseman was first awarded in 1990 and every year thereafter until 2013 when the original CCHA was dissolved as a consequence of the Big Ten Conference forming its men's ice hockey conference. The CCHA was revived in 2020, with play resuming in the 2021–22 season, by seven schools that left the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, with an eighth school joining before play started. The revived league chose to fold its previous awards for Best Offensive and Best Defensive Defenseman into a single CCHA Defenseman of the Year award. Central Collegiate Hockey Association
The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) is a college athletic conference that participates in the NCAA's Division I as a hockey-only conference. The current CCHA began play in the 2021–22 season; a previous incarnation, which the current CCHA recognizes as part of its history, existed from 1971 to 2013. Half of its members are located in the state of Michigan, with additional members in Minnesota and Ohio. It has also had teams located in Alaska, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Nebraska over the course of its existence. The CCHA was disbanded after the 2012–13 season as the result of a conference realignment stemming from the Big Ten Conference (of which three CCHA schools; Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State, were primary members) choosing to sponsor Division I ice hockey beginning in the 2013–14 season. Jason Woolley
Jason Douglas Woolley (born July 27, 1969) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played in the National Hockey League for the Washington Capitals, Florida Panthers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres, and Detroit Red Wings. Playing career As a youth, Woolley played in the 1981 and 1982 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournaments with a minor ice hockey team from Mississauga. Woolley attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI before the Washington Capitals selected him 61st overall in the 1989 NHL Draft. Woolley's most productive NHL season was his 1998–99 campaign with the Buffalo Sabres in which he netted 10 goals and 33 assists (43 points). Fittingly, that year was also Woolley's finest playoff performance (4 goals, 11 assists, 15 points) as his Sabres advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals before falling to the Dallas Stars in six games. Kelly Perrault
Kelly Perrault (born December 18, 1973) is a Canadian retired ice hockey defenseman who was an All-American for Bowling Green Career Perrault's college career began in 1993 with Bowling Green. After a decent freshman campaign, the Falcons got a new head coach in Buddy Powers. The change in leadership coincided with Perrault's offensive numbers taking off and he nearly tripled his totals as a sophomore. The astounding jump led to Perrault being named an All-American. Despite helping the team finish with a 25–11–2 record, BG got snubbed by the NCAA selection committee and was left out of the NCAA Tournament. Perrault continued his pace as a junior and senior but couldn't stop his team from declining in his final year. After the college season was over, Perrault signed a professional contract with the Chicago Wolves and ended the season in the IHL playoffs. Ferris State Bulldogs Men's Ice Hockey
The Ferris State Bulldogs men's ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I college ice hockey program that represents Ferris State University. The Bulldogs are a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). They play at Ewigleben Arena in Big Rapids, Michigan. History Ferris State's ice hockey program began in 1975 as a member of the NAIA and joined the CCHA as an affiliate member. In the program's four seasons in the NAIA the team compiled an overall record of 58-40-1-.591, including three seasons above .700 winning percentage and a program best winning percentage of .795 in the 1976–77 season. John Gruden
John Daniel Gruden (born June 4, 1970) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman. He currently serves as an assistant coach for the Boston Bruins. Prior to Boston, he most served as an assistant coach for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 2018-2022. He previously served as the head coach of the Hamilton Bulldogs and inaugural head coach of the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Playing career Gruden played high school hockey in Hastings, Minnesota in the late 1980s. The Miami RedHawks men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio.
