This is a list of the almost 450 suburbs in the Brisbane metropolis, Queensland, Australia. Local government areas The Greater Brisbane, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, consists of the following local government areas (LGAs), with populations in 2019: Suburbs of the City of Brisbane City of Brisbane has 194 suburbs (190 on the mainland and 4 on Moreton Island). There is no formal system of regions, but Brisbane suburbs are informally grouped by Brisbane residents based on their relation to the Brisbane River and the Brisbane CBD. Geography Red Hill is by road north-west of the Brisbane CBD. The suburb is very hilly and mainly residential, with shops and small businesses located on Musgrave and Waterworks Roads. History The suburb is one of the oldest in Brisbane. Red Hill is named after its steep hills with red soil and rocks. A Baptist chapel was built in 1874. In 1888, the chapel was replaced by the Windsor Road Baptist Church. As at 2021, the church is still operating and the building is listed on the Brisbane Heritage Register. Paddington is an inner suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Paddington had a population of 9,063 people. Paddington is located west of the Brisbane CBD, by car.
