The Arabs (singular: Arab; singular ar, عَرَبِيٌّ, DIN 31635: , , plural ar, عَرَب, DIN 31635: , Arabic pronunciation: ), also known as the Arab people, are an ethnic group mainly inhabiting the Arab world in Western Asia, North Africa, the Horn of Africa, and the western Indian Ocean islands (including the Comoros). Fawakih
Fawakih is an educational non profit that focuses on teaching Classical Arabic to students throughout the United States for the purpose of accessing the Quran, Hadith and classical texts of the Islamic Sciences. Fawakih (Arabic: فواكه) derives its name from the Arabic word for fruits, representing the desired result of tasting the "fruits" of understanding the Classical Arabic Islamic texts. History Fawakih was founded in 2007 by Saif Omar as a 501(c)(3) organization under the legal entity Polaris Foundation Inc. Fawakih held its first Quranic Arabic summer intensive in Fishers, IN subsequently held programs in future years in Washington, DC and Boston, MA. After 2010, all summer programs were offered in Washington, DC. Starting in the fall of 2012, Fawakih began to offer part-time, weekly, Quranic Arabic classes in Herndon, VA, Ann Arbor, MI, and Boston, MA. The Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA; ar, الاتحاد العربي لكرة القدم; french: Union des associations de football arabe) is the governing body of football in the Arab League. Established in 1974, UAFA has 22 member associations. The UAFA is an association not recognised by FIFA. Pan Arab Games
The Arab Games ( ar, الألعاب العربية), also called the Pan Arab Games, are a regional multi-sport event held between nations from the Arab world. They are organized by the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees. The first Games took place in 1953 in Alexandria, Egypt. Intended to be held every four years since, political turmoil as well as financial difficulties have made the event an unstable one. Women first competed in 1985. History The Arab Games were the brainchild of Abdul Rahman Hassan Azzam, the first General Secretary of the Arab League (1945–1952). In 1947, Azzam submitted a memorandum to the League, advocating a multi-sport tournament which involved the participation of all Arab countries. Western Sahara ( '; ; ) is a disputed territory on the northwest coast and in the Maghreb region of North and West Africa. The Arab League ( ar, الجامعة العربية, ' ), formally the League of Arab States ( ar, جامعة الدول العربية, '), is a regional organization in the Arab world, which is located in Northern Africa, Western Africa, Eastern Africa, and Western Asia. The Arab League was formed in Cairo on 22 March 1945, initially with six members: Egypt, Iraq, Transjordan (renamed Jordan in 1949), Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria. Association Of Arab And European Universities
The Association of Arab and European Universities (AEUA) is a university association based in The Hague, Netherlands. The AEAU encourages links between European and Arab universities. It was established in 1998 by the Lutfia Rabbani Foundation with the main objective if aiding collaboration between universities in Arab and European countries at the university, faculty, and departmental levels. Ultimate goal is to develop human resources and promote understanding between cultures and exchanges between the civil societies involved. In 2000, the AEUA was incorporated formally under Dutch law with support from the Association of Arab Universities located in Amman, Jordan and the European University Association located in Brussels, Belgium. Both these organizations have representatives on the Board of the AEUA.
